Welcome to the July 2nd edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
I loved my Sunday.
Why?
Sunday's sermon was one I have wanted to listen to for ages. Our Church is doing a study through The Apostles' Creed.
No, it's not an Orthodox church. It's a church where the pastor embraces some of the historical traditions of the church which still has value in modern times.
This week was a study on the section of the creed that focused on Jesus.
For his text, we did a study through sections in Colossians, Philippians & Hebrews amongst others.
They were texts that speak to the supremacy of Jesus over everything. I love those verses.
I didn't need to open the texts - I was saying them offhand with him as he was reading them.
Read Colossians 1:15-20 or Hebrews 1:1-4 and see if they don't fill you with transcendent wonder.
Maybe it's me.
But I am fascinated by the supremacy of Jesus and verses like these just come alive for me.
At the end of the service, I made a beeline to the pastor to appreciate him.
This was a sermon I have wanted to listen to for a long time.
Yes, I have read and studied it.
But there is nothing like listening to someone else teach it.
And teach it in a way that truly shows the Son has supremacy over all.
Things I Learnt
1-Don't Settle for Less: I started a 31-day challenge over the weekend focused on helping people accelerate their careers in the workplace.
During the week, I made a decision that changed the plan a bit.
Yes, I had everything mapped out for the 31 days - I was teaching from something I coach with.
But I decided to do a workbook to go with it.
Not just any workbook. A workbook that would feel like you had me working through the challenge beside you.
Think of it as having me coaching you through it.
So, I had to develop assessments, assignments and tasks that would do this.
Every day, there is a unique activity to get you further. And I also made it an editable pdf - no need to stress on printing. Just type and save.
I shared it with my coach and his response was - "we could sell this"
But I am not selling it.
I am baking it as part of the free challenge.
If I can make that investment in people, I can imagine what impact they will make when they invest their results in other people.
It runs from July 1 - 31, so you can still join in if you want to.
No pressures - not a sales pitch.
It was a reminder for me to not settle for bringing less than the best value to people if I can do it.
No matter how much effort I need to put into beating the path to a win for everyone.
2-Changing Times, Changing Goals: It's official, we are in the second half of 2023.
Over the weekend, I paused to consider the agenda that I will be chasing for the rest of the year.
I noticed something - a couple of my goals for the year have changed.
They changed as a result of the events of the first half of 2023.
Not because of me but because of the changing nature of the world.
It's happening locally & globally.
Interestingly, my long-term vision has not changed. It's just the immediate goals that have changed.
Navigating the future is like a ship on the seas.
It has a destination. To get there, it needs to keep adjusting its bearings to nature's forces to keep it on course.
That is what I am doing for the second half of 2023.
Adjusting my bearings with new goals.
Not far from my long-term vision even if they are different from what I dreamed of 6-8 months ago.
I am still on the 10-year vision trail.
Postscript
May you be flexible enough to adjust your goals to current realities but uncompromising enough not to yield your long-term vision to a lesser image of who you can become. Amen.
