Welcome to the January 14th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
This week, I made the choice not to be overwhelmed.
Why?
Chasing after the big goals and the pressures of every day are a combination that shakes things up.
And shaking things up they have begun to.
The decision not to be overwhelmed is a choice.
A choice that has to be sustained by having the right support structure in place.
The support helps to create a buffer when it gets tough.
And it will get tough.
Why?
Because I am demanding more of myself in the new year.
Why?
Because my family demands more from me.
And the people I serve at work and in my practice demand more.
More than these, God demands more from me.
And so I build my support structure.
I also have my eyes open to who else I can add to the support team.
It’s going to be a great ride in 2024.
Things I Learnt
1 - The Value of an Accountability Corner: During a call with my coach, I was trying to map out the targets for my next 2 weeks.
My coach called me back.
He told me that I was pushing for too much within the 2 weeks.
He resized my goals into something smaller.
I had to trust him.
Why?
Because he had become a part of my life to know all the complexities I am carrying.
So, resizing my goals was his way of refining my pursuit.
No need to kill the horse in a short sprint when the race is still longer.
I guess I was blinded by the greatness of the goals for the year, I wanted to move faster and quicker.
Instead of going slow to go fast.
2 - Being Good Because of the Kids: I have come to the simple conclusion that the reason why I have spent most of my years collecting knowledge is so I can answer the questions that my kids ask me.
Especially when you have kids that ask a million and one questions.
No, some of these questions don’t need a “google response”.
They need a contextual response.
Answer that is presented in a context that is relevant to them.
To the world view that we as a family have adopted.
So, I am using what I have learned to answer questions from my children so I can help prepare them for the future.
Postscript
May you build your life on values and principles that make you relevant to the generation that comes after you. Amen.
