Faith & Life Lessons - November 12, 2023

Welcome to the November 12th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

Family travels can create interesting memories.

Ahead of a 12-hour overnight stopover, I had booked a hotel not far from the airport.

When we got to the hotel, I realised how definitions differ by country.

We are a small family so I figured we could all sleep on a double bed. Well, it turns out double bed means something else to this country.

Winter had arrived and we were shocked to find out that the hotel did not have heating.

Yep, the smaller size bed turned out to be a blessing as we could all cramp onto it to keep ourselves warm.

The kids didn't complain - they have become troopers when it comes to travelling with their parents.

No, we don't do great adventure trips.

Maybe we will do that when they are older.

For now, we focus on creating memories.

Fun ones.

And occasionally interesting ones.

Like the last one.

Things I Learnt

1-The Path of Most Faith Required: On Tuesday, I got a call that reaffirmed the saying “When you win at a particular level of faith, you get rewarded by challenges requiring a higher level of faith”.

Let me give you some background.

In the past week or so, I had just completed a milestone goal that required faith and perseverance.

At a point, it looked daunting - we held on to God's promised word and kept pushing.

After reaching the summit, God only allowed a 1-week breather before the next huddle.

I have concluded that for some of us, God is excited to put us on the path of most faith required.

Not because we are special - just because we opened our mouths and told God "Use me how you want for your glory"

And I don't regret it.

Sometimes I just wish it wouldn't be so uphill.

It keeps me on my faith - so I don't get cocky in my ability to create solutions and reach the peak.

People like me need to be reminded more about God's ability to multiply results ahead of our ability to develop solutions.

2 - The Security of a Support Base: After I got the call on Tuesday, I told my wife "I am happy I got the call this week."

Why?

Because on Thursday, I was scheduled to have a call with my business mentor and on Friday, a call with my spiritual director.

Having people like these in my life to navigate tricky situations takes a bit of the pressure off the whole decision-making process.

I didn't build these in a day.

It was a process.

I have been blessed that the people I have in my support base are reliable and align with my highest values.

They don't all speak from the same perspective. But certain common threads hold all these together.

By the way, they are not for free. But they are worth the value of the investment

Postscript

May fear not stop you from living your life on the path of most faith required. Amen.
