Hello

I really hope this email finds you well and happy.

I was wondering if any readers of my books would like to contribute a small paragraph in my next newsletter, maybe mentioning what they thought of any of my stories, what they liked or disliked? I was thinking of stopping the Women of Courage series after Brianna, what do you think folks, has it run its course?

In today's email you can find the usual stuff, books that can be picked up for free or reduced, a book competition, and my latest book review.

Coming 25th March!

Brianna is finished! I'm so excited! I've absolutly loved writing this story... and I hope you will enjoy reading it!

Now We Are Animals by R P Nathan

A gripping, Dystopian, YA Sci-Fi

I am excited to introduce you to this book, as one of the first readers I feel like I've found a golden nugget! I'm sure this is going to be a smash hit.

What I loved. It’s not very often when I get to the last page and want to immediately reach for the next book in the series, but I did when I read Now We Are Animals. Book 2 isn’t out yet unfortunately, but I sure hope it will be soon!

Desperate to evade the fate that will reach her when she turns eighteen and a half, Cara escapes. It was more luck than anything that allows her to get away from the cattle ranch. However, there is nowhere to go, and before she knows it she becomes captive to an alien family, whose daughter wants Cara as a pet. I fully appreciated all the emotions that Cara goes through being a captive, including the large part of her that wants to accept it and just be grateful she’s alive. But human nature is such that eventually the need to be free begins to emerge. Aggie is a great personality. She’s Cara’s captor – so we long to hate her, but she’s so well portrayed that we can’t help but grow to like her too, which makes the ending all the more shocking, clever writing!

There is an element of The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner here, as in everything looks terrible, but because we are routing for one person to survive we are gripped. Cara is someone I instantly liked, and therefore cared for her outcome. She’s not perfect, but she’s a survivor, pulling hidden strength from within to face the atrocious odds against her. The book opens on a school day and very quickly moves into invasion. Though, horrifically, millions are killed, we don’t once see any gore – for which I am thankful. This isn’t a book about an alien invasion so much as it is about human nature. It’s a look at ourselves and a diagnostic approach to how we live.

What I didn’t like. It is obvious from the units being built, and the way they are ‘funneled’ into the places, that the survivors are instantly treated as if they are animals, not happy, carefree animals such as rabbits and squirrels, but cattle, such as cows and pigs; fed in troughs, sleeping on hay and herded into groups. It was with a sigh, therefore, when I read a couple of the dialogues pointing out the obvious comparisons. Now We Are Animals is a great story, and it’s a very small gripe that only popped into my head a few times as I was reading, and doesn’t prevent me at all from highly recommending this book to you, nor will it prevent me from reading the following book, so maybe it’s not important.

Review warning: Before you rush off and buy any book that someone reviews you should read the free sample chapters provided on Amazon, this way you can decide for yourself if this book is your cup of tea or not. Happy reading everyone!

On the March by Trudy Krisher

A 20th Century Historical Masterpiece, seriously not to be missed!

I don't normally share with you books I've been paid to review, however, this is such a fantastic book I had to let you know about it!

In a world being over crowded by indie-books On the March stands head and shoulders above the rest! A celebration of womanhood and the uniqueness of personality; this novel carries a powerful punch and deserves to win awards!

While centering the story around three main characters, the author has brilliantly woven together an in-depth discussion about everything feminine. What a book! I cried so many times while reading this, don’t be misled by that statement, the book is uplifting and utterly inspiring. Henrietta, in the last quarter of her life, full of regrets; Birdie, in the first quarter of her life, full of sadness and questions, and Emily a college graduate without a job or a vision. The three of them are about to embark on the adventure of their lives, a bus ride to Washington, DC to take part in the protest march against the anti-women comment made by the president – the largest, single day protest, in American history. Their journey is breathtakingly wonderful. It becomes a period when all three evolve and grow, where they learn to look back, so they can see where they are going. Most significant line in the book, that tightened my throat and brought tears to my eyes, ‘Her decades of silence had been given a voice.’ Staggeringly triumphant, this is a celebration of womanhood; it is both educational and enlightening.

Trudy Krisher writes with panache bringing characters to life with a beautifully artistic flourish. Intricate details splash across every paragraph making the scenes jump off the page. With an eloquent writing style, which is smooth and easy to read, this is literature fiction at its very best! On the March comes very highly recommended by Artisan Book Reviews.

I think you can tell I enjoyed it!
