Beware friendly lights in the deadly dark...
The Cult of the Open Eye is here!
A spine-tingling dark fantasy novella that's sure to linger in the shadowy corners of your mind long after you've finished reading.
Blurb:
Dust is doubt. Doubt is Dust.
In the land of the eternal dust storm, nothing is ever certain. You never know what might come out of the Dust.
For the green-eyed lookout girl, her brother is the only thing she can depend on. He is the Tall Warrior, the Brave Defender of their people.
One day, he vanishes into the Dust, where grey shapes walk the dunes under a grey sun. They say he went with the Farseer, a strange man with strange charm. Only the lookout girl knows the Farseer's deadly intentions.
She braves the Dust alone, following the trail her brother left for her. Dust means death, but she must rescue her brother. After all, she is the only one that can save him—from the Dust, from himself, from the Cult of the Open Eye.
As the trail of black beads becomes a trail of blood, her doubts grow …
Can you save someone that does not want to be rescued?
A chilling tale of dogma and doubts, The Cult of the Open Eye comes with a dire warning:
Beware friendly lights in the deadly dark …
Smashwords 50% off sale!
Every book I have out - including the above - is 50% off in the Smashwords store. I believe they sell eBooks in the epub format, which can be read on whatever device you normally read on. Even kindles - as far as I understand.
Smashwords treats me pretty well as an author (their royalty rate is very nice!) and I hope it's an equally good place to buy from. For those of you who have been thinking about changing the store you usually go to (say, for example, the one named after that big river in South America ...) then this is the time to do it!
A little author news
Other than sorting out the release of this latest book, I've been heavily engaged in active methods of procrastination. From downloading silly mobile games to becoming engrossed in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries, I've been doing whatever I can to avoid the writing desk. (Colin Firth is the best Mr Darcy of all time, and I will die on that hill!)
Thankfully, even in the most distracted times, I can still manage to get little snippets of writing done. I'm very, very, very close to getting 1/3 of the way through Elixir of Power book 2, which is nice. It definitely helps that the middle portion of the book always has an escalation of danger and excitement, and the hardest chapters to write are behind me.
I'm hoping I can pick up the pace a little now that the novella has been released. It may depend on me having the resolve to delete the addictive mobile games from my phone, or it may depend on some kind of reward system. If I write for 10 minutes, I get to play on my phone for 10 minutes, rinse, repeat. Something like that.
Maybe you've got all my books already, or you just have a thirst that cannot be quenched by the seven or so books I have out. If those things are true, then you might be interested in ...
