Here's some things I've been up to and some things you can read!

Hello again!

October in Australia means warmer weather and there is a lot more activity among the wildlife. Mostly this takes the form of cute little birds and pretty butterflies dancing among the blooms. The Noongar people call this time Kambarang, and it roughly corresponds to the European season of spring. One of six seasons, Kambarang goes from October to November, and is most positively known as the season of wildflowers. But it's not all positive. There is also danger ...

You've heard of our snakes and spiders, our sharks and jellyfish, but the real threat is the demon of the skies—the magpie. They defend their nests so viciously, every pedestrian and cyclist needs to beware. They swoop down, shriek at you, cuff you with their wings, peck your ears, and chase you for some distance. Everyone I know has a horror story of being assaulted by one of these black-and-white feathered monsters. During the Kambarang months, when they're nesting, it's best to seek shelter, avoid walking under large trees, or if all else fails—wear a helmet covered in zip ties.

No joke — a bike helmet with zip ties poking from the top is the standard self-defense outfit for magpie season. The magpies seem to think they are dangerous spikes or something. Google "zip tie magpie helmet" to get an idea of the silly-looking-yet-effective contraption.

As for me, I get quite bad helmet hair. I'll be mostly staying indoors.

Writing Progress

I've hit the 57% mark on Elixir of Power book 2!

It's not a nice, neat milestone figure, but it's progress. Just a little bit more to go, then a little bit more ...

I'm afraid I don't have much more to report, but hopefully the next time I give you an update I'll be able to include a little excerpt or something. Maybe some little quotes from various places.

In the meantime, here are some things by other authors like me that you might enjoy reading!
