Writing news

My next series writing as Theo Hodges is signed with Aethon Books! I'm thrilled to work with them again and continue to build stories together. The series is like Narcos meets Indiana Jones set in a fantasy realm where the nation who holds the leveling jewel is the envy of the world.

I fell in love with this story by incorporating a brother relationship similar to mine and my younger brother's. I miss him, and it has been fun to write a story with a character inspired by his quiet nobility. I gave him a darker side to keep it interesting, otherwise, it's just him helping old ladies while I ask him why he never calls ;). The characters are mid thirties, so older than the cast of Badges of Dorkdom, which has been nice.

I'm also writing a post-apocalyptic thriller set in suburban Iowa, where a game master has unleashed a zombie outbreak as season one of my own Alice in Wonderland survival game. It's real life with stats organized by Reset Corp, a company set on resetting our world to play by their rules.

I started a Patreon to host chapters if you'd like to read them early. We didn't get to finish my back surgery needs last year, so we're starting fresh with the new year. God is blessing us, and writing has certainly helped. I'm a few weeks away from a trial procedure that has me a little on edge, but it's supposed to be good, so I'm fighting to keep my chin up.

What I'm reading

Hell Divers after Hell Divers. I'm up to book 7 and loving how each one improves upon the last. Great characters and crisp, visceral writing.
