for the joy of being thankful

Hi everyone :D
I hope this has been a great week for you. This past month has been quite unique, and I wanted to share a short recap. I'd also like to hear from you if you wouldn't mind. Let me know something you're thankful for, or if you're having a hard time, I'd be glad to pray for you or whomever. I write Sci-fi Fantasy LitRPG, but I also care about people, so know that's always on the table if you need someone to talk through things.
Anyway, so if you've been here from the beginning, you know I released Cipher's Quest on July 21. It's a story that I rewrote and polished so many drafts I've lost count, and spent a year in submissions with a small press before ultimately deciding to self publish. It's a unique take on LitRPG because it doesn't start heavy on the gaming elements or stats. That is intentional because they have to unlock the game first, and that's book one. Book two, Windwalker, is scheduled to release in a month, so you're not far from finding out more of how the game might work... or not, you may not know yet how book one ends, and I won't spoil it. In a few weeks I'll have the cover for book two. Would you like me to send a newsletter with some stages of the cover development? That might be cool. Stay tuned.
So, in between releasing Cipher's Quest July 21 and today, I've had spine fusion surgery and signed a five book audiobook deal with Podium Publishing. Which one is cooler... hmm. Hard to say. I love having new strength in my legs as I walk. I'm also so excited to put my audiobook production into the hands of the company that got me started on audiobooks, and whom I think is just straight da bomb.
This newsletter was inspired by a moment of joy that I wanted to share. I just got in from a walk around our block with my wife and kids. I have a three and a half year old girl, Waverly, and an almost seven year old boy, Kai. In case you didn't know about Kaiver being a penname surname, can you tell how I came up with it? ;) Anyway, I'm just so thankful to be able to walk longer than five minutes without pain, and to have moments where my precious daughter is calling, "Daddy, I want to hold your hand." My son even held my hand during one of my walks this week. We've been taking advantage of my excessive bedridden time to play some Final Fantasy VI and V this month. I'm old school RPG, and he's enjoying it with me.
So those are some of the things I'm thankful for lately. I'll keep you up to date on the narrator for this series, and when the next book is coming out. You might also check out the Adventurers Guild website that just launched. It's like Goodreads for LitRPG fans, and will have some sweet prizes and rewards for XP earned over there.
If you've read Cipher's Quest, would you be so kind to take a moment to review it on Amazon? It's been sitting at 14 for a bit, and is starting to lose ground on those climbing into the hundreds.
Thanks again for being there. Happy reading, and have a great weekend!
