Dear Thriver ,
As Christmas approaches, I know the mix of emotions that can come with it.
Joy…
Pressure…
Fatigue…
And sometimes that quiet question in your heart:
“Am I doing enough for my child this season?”
If you’re parenting a child with cerebral palsy, Christmas doesn’t always look like the movies and that’s okay.
Here are five gentle, practical ways to celebrate Christmas with your child, without pressure or comparison:
1. Celebrate small wins, not big expectations
A relaxed feeding, a calm therapy day, a shared laugh; these moments matter. Christmas joy often lives in the small things.
2. Create simple traditions that fit your child
It could be one song you play every morning, a short prayer together, or decorating just one corner of the house. Simple is enough.
3. Adapt activities instead of skipping them
Your child doesn’t need to do everything; just be included in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them.
4. Protect your child’s energy (and yours)
You don’t have to attend every event or keep every plan. Rest is not missing out; it’s wisdom.
5. Give yourself permission to enjoy the moment
You’re allowed to smile, to laugh, and to receive joy too. Your child feels it when you’re at peace.
This Christmas doesn’t need to be perfect.
It just needs to be present.
And if you’re longing for more support, guidance, and community as you parent your child with cerebral palsy, that’s exactly why The Thrivers Circle exists.
The Thrivers Circle is a 90-day coaching and support program for parents like you helping you rebuild peace, confidence, and joy while caring for your child.
