Naked, a poem by Alobu Emmanuel

NAKED
Alobu Emmanuel
this afternoon, i can easily tell the footsteps of the birds & lizards
scrambling for insects in the yard. all because of the shrump, shrump, sound
of shrivelled, old leaves that had fallen off & made the trees almost naked.
you know, that position you grip so much & think you won't ever let go— it'll
rumple & shrivel like these autumn leaves. one day, you too will go naked
