HELLO PAST
Oletu Oghenenyore
(for every adult)
the scars you made
on our innocence is something else, no
letting go has erased them.

P.S. The past has a way of showing our shortcomings, no matter the success we may be enjoying at the moment. There is that one thing we wish to correct if our past is given to us as a second chance. We employ forgetfulness to thrive; the longing will still be there, hence the scars.
About the Author
Oletu Oghenenyore C. (Nyore Note), the winner of the 2023 Pengican Chapbook Prize for Poetry is a vituperative-rebel poet writing from the Creek part of the Niger Delta. He loves to write about happenings around him and so his nose is always out, sourcing for untold stories. He is the author of “Boyz Too Are Flowers”, “Life in the Crucible”, “Because We Are Stateless” and many other chapbooks.
