Dear ,
This time last week, we told you about our recreational music clubs which provide a relaxed learning experience for participants, free from the pressures associated with preparing for international music exams.
Today, we would like to tell you about a second pathway for music learning which we have termed formal music learning. While this can be just as enjoyable and rewarding as recreational music learning, the tuition is much more structured and is aligned to academic measures of attainment. Learners who opt for this pathway recognise that they must engage daily with music in some shape or form if they are to attain and maintain the standards required for international exams.
Both formal and recreational learning can result in excellent musicianship skills. As we well know, a good number of successful musicians have had little or no formal music training. Sir Paul Macartney had enjoyed global success with the Beatles before he chose to study music formally. So while recreational learning is different in its approach, it is not necessarily inferior.
Our formal music lessons are aligned to international music exams at every stage of learning. Even for our youngest beginners, aged 3-6 years old! Take a peek at the super cute Early Learning Exams HERE.
We have mapped our formal learning curriculum (which we call our learning map), to the different tiers of music exams, so you always have a sense of the trajectory of lessons. You can view our learning map HERE.
Our recently announced affiliation with the London College of Music and the International School of Musicians means we are able to both prepare and enter candidates for music exams up to Diploma level. Click HERE to find out more about these exams.
We will be hosting a free webinar and Q&A with a representative from the London College of Music and the International School of Musicians next month so do keep an eye out for an email from us giving more details in the coming days.
Candidates who take LCME or ISoM exams are awarded certificates by the University of West London - a valuable credential for possible opportunities in the future.
Whether your preference is for recreational or formal learning, we would love to hear from you. We take on new learners at any time of the year, all year long. We teach adults and children alike from our centres in Ikoyi, Gbagada as well as online. Home lessons are also possible under certain circumstances.
For the next fourteen days, up until the 1st of October, we are pleased to offer four formal 1:1 lessons for the price of two for new sign-ups. This equates to N30,000 for 4 x 1 hour lessons as opposed to N60,000. This will enable you experience our approach before fully committing.
Simply reply to this email or each us on WhatsApp to get started.
Till next time,
