πŸ’°πŸ©πŸ™„I bought an expired domain for $730 + 2 more updates

🍩 Good day, Donuts!

Last week, I upgraded my hosting account with NameCheap to VPS to connect my websites with Ezoic. Well, a week later, I've experienced a bunch of server-related problems, including access to my email accounts. Today, the newsletter will be sent from my Gmail email since I still have problems connecting to my server through [email protected].

Okay, let's move on to the real meat. Last week, I couldn't send my weekly newsletter because I was upgrading my hosting account and doing technical audits to speed up my websites.

One of the benefits of having a better hosting plan is faster websites, and an improved core web vitals score. After the upgrade, my desktop score is 99, and my mobile score is between 80-85. These scores are valid for all of my niche websites. Also, I spent last weekend tweaking the setting in my WP backend to improve my websites' speed further. I am happy with the results, but I will try to improve the websites' mobile score. I would like to see it green.

I am employed again

In my last week's newsletter, I shared that I am employed again. But this time as the fund manager and co-founder of a small investment fund. Our initial plan was to fund small Bulgarian startups (and help them grow) that make physical products. Up until this moment, there are almost none. We have spoken to less than ten companies, and except for two, the rest don't fit our criteria.

During one of our weekly chats with my co-founders, I brought up the idea to invest the rest of the fund in niche websites. I presented the results and my growth plan regarding the public niche website case study, and we all agreed to try it out. And I am super excited about this idea.

Right now, this means that I have access to a 6-figure fund which I will use for buying and growing niche websites. And this is big news for me and also an even bigger responsibility on my shoulders. While I enjoy building niche websites for myself with my money, I now have the responsibility to grow my partners' money.

I am confident (but not over-confident) in my skills because of my previous experience and current knowledge. I've been so pumped by this opportunity that I can barely sleep. Yes, this is Obsession. And I love every single day of it.

Starting July 2021, the niche website project will be owned by the fund, which means that I sold the domain and the content. I didn't sell it for profit. I sold it for what the content cost me. We have another website that will soon join our portfolio of niche websites. More details about my June work on the niche website project will be delivered in next week's newsletter.

Recovering De-Indexed Page, Traffic, and Keywords

In last week's newsletter, I shared that I've lost all 90+ keywords to one of the leading money pages on my niche website, and I shared my guide on how was I able to recover my rankings in user 12 hours.

I am happy to report that now, I've recovered more than 70% of the keywords I've lost in under two weeks.

I bought an expired domain for $730

This Wednesday (23rd), I bought an expired domain for $730 from Odys.

Why the hell did I pay so much for a domain? Because it is 23 years old, has a ton of backlinks from authority domains, and was kept alive during all of these years.

I've already redirected (301) the domain and its internal pages to one of my money niche website, and the backlinks are already moving to my website. The DR of my website went up, keywords and traffic also.

As this is an experiment, I won't draw conclusions so fast. I will be monitoring traffic and rankings and see if these $730 were worth spending.

Okay, donuts, that's all for today. Next week I will send June's niche websites project update.

Enjoy the day!
