Greetings all Perc.U.lators!
Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are generally held on the second Saturday of the month at 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. However, this next one will be held on the 18th of April at the same time. (Anke is at a music camp, and with the changes of venue, our members felt that moving the date was kinder to us all.)
The open mic and feature will be at 'The Nong', with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m in the Dandenong Library - a great chance to explore the space and see whether it's a good fit for us!
Let's make April Amazing!
Our feature this April is Katie Lohner...
Katie Lohner is a spoken word and performance artist from Naarm (Melbourne). Her quirky and vigorous performance style has touched audiences, including La Mama Cabaretica, 3CR Radio, Melbourne Fringe Festival, The Festival of Surrealisms, Mother Tongue Poetry and Melbourne Spoken Word Festival. Her poetry has been described as being unencumbered, with a sense of freedom and joy. Her practice also extends from poetry to a range of physical theatre and character comedy.
Further information on our venue:
The kitchen at The Nong closes at 2 pm, but there will be food available from the glass cabinets, as well as drinks and a barista. You could also pre-order a meal: this is 'The Nong's Menu:
We are in discussion with the library about using a space there from May to December. Cross your fingers and hope they contact us soon.
Additional information:
This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Stickytickets, as 'The Nong'
will continue to be open to the general public. Therefore, open-mic and feature presenters are asked to keep their works in the 'PG' range for this event.
