{{contact.first_name}}, he replied after 1000 years 🙄

Sep 23, 2022 11:01 am

After I built in the free hourly rate calculator on my website.

I sent my husband the link on WhatsApp to go check it out.

He is one of my beta testers and cheer leaders for everything.

The tech things I do make him marvel because I have no background in tech and I just teach myself to do things while he is still struggling with canva.

Then I waited.

1hr 50mins later, Ogbeni came to type "wow! This is nice".

I immediately knew he had not tried it.

That's how he gives generic replies when he hasn't tried something.

As much as I wanted to type "na me waste my time dey send you link...."

I replied with "After 1000 years 🙄"

When he returned from work, I let him know that it wasn't nice to excitedly send him something and not get a good reply.

(Maybe I'm too used to getting hyped by him😩)

He explained that he was busy trying to find an a donor with O negative blood (they are rare) etc etc.

About an hour later, we had finished dinner and I was literally breathing down his neck to try the tool.

He did.

Uncle said he wants to work 8 hours a day for 6days a week for 50 weeks a year.😭

A year has 52 weeks ....how can some need only two weeks off?🤦🏾‍♀️

My face was like 😨

He thought it is an upgrade because asides working 10-12 hours a day from Monday to Saturday, he sometimes works an additional 4 hours on Sundays after church.

While I want to work 5hours a day, 4 days a week for 40weeks a year.

In fact, when he calculated his hourly rate, mine was much higher.

We have talked about this countless times. In the first 6 months of starting our private Lab , he fired all 3 staff we hired🤦🏽‍♀️....

We had to start hiring afresh.

See why he does all the work alone🤷🏽‍♀️

I work from home and so even if I am also a Medical Laboratory Scientist, I can't be there as much.

Back to my husband's ridiculous idea of freedom.

It's just like when he insisted I buy the goat for our traditional marriage myself because he didn't trust anyone to do it better.

1.) I had no goat buying experience

2.) I didn't even know where to buy a goat

3.) I had a lot of relatives with goat buying experience who were willing to help.

4.) I can't drive unsupervised so I would have had to take a bike with the goat tied behind me, on my laps or in front with the bike man (no, , there are no taxis in my village).

His work schedule made no sense... so I asked him if he wasn't willing to be flexible and free.

He said he has to be "running around" even if we have staff.

Running around to where abeg🤦🏽‍♀️.

It is safe to say my husband is still learning to let go and let the people we hire, do their job.

That brings me to why the worst thing you can do for yourself, is copy what other people are charging.

I say this because what you want your business (and life) to look like, could be completely different from someone else's.

I might want to work 1 hour a day, 4 days a month ..and charge more (in fact this is my dream😂)

Someone else like my husband, Cee, might want to work 8 hours every day of the week, charge less and totally love it.

And you might like 6 hours a day for 5 days a week🤷🏽‍♀️

And we can all earn the same at the end of the month.

Or I might work less and earn more.

If you're like me, you want to make money but don't want to be tied to your work all the time.

That means that your pricing has to reflect your own personal needs & desires.

So if your strategy is to find out what your competitors/mentors are charging and then charge the same or a little lower, you are sleeping on a bike.

If you're struggling with how much to charge for your services, and have ever asked questions like:

How do I price my virtual assistant services?”

“What is the hourly rate for a virtual assistant in Nigeria?”

“Am I not getting clients because I am over charging?”

“How do I price my services as a new virtual assistant without cheating myself?”

“How much do virtual assistants in Nigeria earn?”

“Should I charge in naira or in dollars?”

“Hourly, packages, monthly salary, retainer, project based, value based pricing. What’s the best for me?”

You're in luck!

Because I am a benevolent queen, I answered your questions HERE

Oh.... I also explained why your price might not be what is scaring clients away (even if it's on the high end)
