PE Classroom Revision
Nov 16, 2023 8:16 am
Hi ,
I hope this email finds you well.
It only seems like yesterday that it was September and everyone was settling into new schedules and classes. Yet already, many in our community are already in the midst of mocks or can see them just around the corner.
It is a nerve-racking time for students as they begin to review their course content and revise for exams.
So today, I wanted to give you some suggestions on how the PE Classroom can be used for revision! These ideas can be used during lessons but can also be adapted by individual pupils at home.
1. Reviewing work booklets
Spending a bit of time reviewing work booklets is a simple, but incredibly useful exercise. It may have been well over a year since students have thought about some topics, so before being able to complete revision activities and exam questions, they need to recap each topic.
The work booklets (+ slideshows) are designed to cover the essential information pupils will need to know in exams, so it is a great place to start. Pupils then can spend 15 minutes creating a spider diagram covering the topic in as much detail as possible.
2. Setting Work on Online Learning
Setting work for pupils on Online Learning is quick and easy and will encourage them to use the Online Learning at home.
You may want to send pupils to the platform and give them free rein to complete as much revision as possible. However, you may also wish to direct them to a particular topic which you would like them to revise. In this instance, we advise simply sharing the page link with your pupils, using your usual system.
Learning Content - This page is where your pupils can watch videos, have a go at our 'hotspots' and other tasks, and review cheat sheets/presentations.
Quiz - Every topic includes a 10 mark quiz for your pupils to complete in order to test their knowledge. A range of questions are included and pupils can retake the quiz as many times as they wish. As a teacher, you can view results in your Teacher Dashboard. your pupils, using your usual system.
Exam Questions - Quizzes are great for testing knowledge but pupils also need to have the ability to decipher and answer exam questions. Every topic includes a number of exam questions for pupils to answer, before self-assessing their work. Again, as a teacher you can view answers and self-assessment within your Teacher Dashboard. your pupils, using your usual system.
3. Cheat sheets
As part of the resource package you have a cheat sheets – one completed and one with gaps – for each topic. In pairs, pupils must study the completed cheat sheet for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, they must complete the cheat sheet with gaps.
4. Key words
Pupils are given a topic and are allocated 10 minutes to revise their booklets and cheat sheets. During this10 minute, they can write down 5 key words for the topic. After the 10 minutes are up, they should explain this topic to a partner in as much detail as they can.
I hope these suggestions help you and your pupils now and later in the year. As always, please get in touch with us with any feedback and suggestions.
Thanks for your support and enjoy the rest of the week!
