Celebrating Grandparents Day with The Nap Time Show!
Sep 08, 2024 5:10 pm
Dear Nap Time Show Family,
Today (Sunday, September 8, 2024) is Grandparents Day!
Today, we take a moment to celebrate the incredible role that grandparents play in our families. They are our storytellers, caregivers, and cheerleaders, offering wisdom and love that enriches our lives.
Grandparents Day is a special occasion dedicated to honoring these remarkable individuals who shape our families with their unique experiences and unconditional support.
The holiday is celebrated each year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.
This year's theme is “Grand Minds: Learn, Love, Legacy.”
How to Celebrate Grandparents Day the Right Way
Inspired by the 5 Love Languages, here's how you can celebrate Grandparents Day this month:
1. Words of Affirmation: Grandparents love hearing how much they are appreciated. Write a heartfelt letter or create a colorful card filled with sweet messages and cherished memories. You could even make a short video or voice recording expressing your gratitude and love. Share your favorite stories about times spent together and let them know the positive impact they've had on your life.
2. Acts of Service: Showing your love through acts of service can mean the world to your grandparents. Offer to help with chores around the house, cook a special meal, or assist with any projects they’ve been wanting to complete. You can also plan a fun day where you take care of everything, giving them a chance to relax and enjoy being pampered.
3. Quality Time: Watch Season 2, Episode 5 of The Nap Time Show titled "Different Kinds of Families" together as a family! This episode features Siesta, our wonderful main character raised by her granny. It beautifully highlights the importance of diverse family dynamics and makes for a great way to bond over stories, songs and shared memories.
4. Receiving Gifts: Thoughtful gifts can bring a lot of joy to your grandparents. Have a coffee drinker in the family? Consider gifting them one of our ceramic Nap Time Show Mugs with Colorful Inside! Looking for a gift that greets them when they return home? Purchase a sweet-smelling candle from our nonprofit fundraiser (and support equitable childcare in the process)!
5. Physical Touch: Never underestimate the power of a warm hug or a gentle touch. If you’re able to be with your grandparents in person, give them plenty of hugs, hold their hand, or offer a comforting shoulder rub. These simple gestures can convey a deep sense of love and connection. If you're celebrating from a distance, send a "hug in a box" filled with cozy items like a soft blanket, warm socks, and a handwritten note.
