Hey there!

Usually, when you get emails from "The Nap Time Show," they're sent with an anonymous "we" tone, but today I'm changing things up a bit.

Nice to meet you!

I'm Sierra, and I created The Nap Time Show. I've been featured on CBS News, Shoutout LA, and I'm a semi-finalist for Pharrell Williams' Black Ambition Prize contest. Before all of that, though, I was a daughter, a friend, a sister, a niece, a big cousin, a goofball, a lifelong student, a dog lover, and ultimately a girl with a dream who wanted to make a difference in her community.

And I still am!

Why Did I Make The Nap Time Show?

When I moved back to my hometown, I re-assumed my duties as big cousin (any other eldest daughters/grandchildren here? 👀).

It was 2021 and I couldn't help but notice the effects the pandemic had on children in my community — socially, emotionally, education-wise and beyond. Our kids needed support.

But as a media professional, I also noticed how exploitative the majority of content targeting kids was. SO much of it was overstimulating, inappropriate, or promoted harmful messages. The "good old days" of Mister Rogers assuring kids with kindness and love seemed to be long gone.

So, I tapped into my inner child, gathered my media skills, rallied my talented friends and family, and created a kids show that seeks to *be the change* I wanted to see in the world.

That show is The Nap Time Show.

Today, you can watch us on our local PBS station; we've partnered with companies like Ford and LEGO; and we're still just getting started.

"How Can I Support You?"

This is a question I get asked often, but don't always know how to answer since I'm recovering from being hyper-independent. Asking for help is still a battle sometimes, but if being an entrepreneur has taught me nothing else?

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
-African Proverb

So, in the spirit of growth, here's how you can support me and the show:

  1. The most time-sensitive way: Ever heard of Double Good? They're a great company that hosts popcorn fundraisers for important causes. We're running a fundraiser in support of our nonprofit, Pour Forward, to promote early literacy, equitable child care and more. What's the catch? You only get 4 days to raise, and our 4-day window closes tomorrow. Need a snack? Buy a bag of popcorn and support children in the process!
  2. The most meaningful way: Watch one of our video playlists! Need a suggestion? Try our "Songs for Nap Time" video album here.
  3. The most impactful way: Share The Nap Time Show with a parent friend!
  4. The most effortless way: Subscribe to our YouTube channel!

Let's make this a two-sided conversation...reply to this email and let me know:

What would you like to see from us? What can we help you with? What are you not really a fan of? Let me know, we want to reflect our community's needs in everything we do.

Okay, that's all for now. Until next time,
