I'm a bad artist (and other judgments)

It's how you look at it

Hey ,

I finally switched to an official email address. Let's teach your computer to remember it, so please take twenty seconds reply to this email with an inanimate object within your vicinity that you're grateful for.

I'm not an artist, but I drew Joe. And other people.

And then Joe, a professional art teacher, drew me.

I said mine was bad, and Joe said, "If you're not making anything, it doesn't matter if you're good at it or not."

Want to be happier? Recognize that you call the shots when you put language to things. Transform "I'm bad," to "I'm learning," and you will immediately find lightness.

The more skill you have with language, the easier you get to experience joy.

Let go of the focus of the outcome, and focus on the quality of the moment. Do this by checking your intention.

Is your intention to improve? Connect? Arrive a solution?

Suddenly, you may find that your actions are supporting your intentions.

Listen to your intentions. Don't let comparison get in the way. Shift the focus to the process of becoming.

Class: Starting in June, I'm launching a two-month once-a-week communication skills class designed to help people take control of their language, finding an easy connection to intention and self-appreciation. If you ask yourself "Do I matter?" this is a class for you. Reply to this email with the word 'class' to learn more, or click this link to set up a one-on-one with me to see if this is right for you.

And no, I will not be teaching art.

P.S. As I develop my email pattern, I'll find my voice by trying different things out. This email style is borrowed from Seth Godin.
