Sean Hannity is a textbook example of “tick tock” news coverage. In every episode, Republicans are just a few more days away from catching, exposing, or even “locking up” Democrats. And viewers are met by a titillated Hannity who broadcasts just how close conservatives are to justice.
Theeeennnnnnnnnn nothing happens.
Each episode feels like a never-ending countdown of what’s to come. Filled with cliffhanger bombshells that keep us tuned in commercial after commercial after commercial. Some might even call the show’s framework a political soap opera for the boomer crowd… but hey, who am I to judge.
Liberals get spoon fed this attention winning framework too; sTay TuNEd fOlks, wE’re jUSt mOMents AwAy frOM INDITING TrUmp! I call the whole shebang “tick tock” news coverage, because all it ultimately does is run the clock; buying air time for the always running 24/7 news coverage.
"How “The News” Works: Guy turns on the television. He’s bombarded with images of tragedies and crime. He gets angry or sad before flipping the channel to sports, or he gets out a laptop and debases himself by watching smut. Watching the news doesn’t cause him to change or improve his life. He’s not better informed or smarter or even safer."
-Mike Cernovich
Americans are noticing this pattern though. So they are switching to alternative news providers who are able to pull out key themes from the daily goings on.
Then apply those themes to the current direction of the county.
THEN present CTAs and newfound ideas for how this information can be applied to one's life. Always in an attempt to spark lifestyle change.
Oh, and they do all three of these things within an hour or two. Via podcasts, videos, blog posts and short form social media posts... Imagine that...
I.E. Tucker Carlson, Michael Knowles, and Liz Wheeler are experts at this.
To me, the alternative framework is a lot more valuable and respectful of viewers and their time. I mean heck, we’re not designed to keep tabs on EVERY detail of EVERY story 100% of the time. So why try it?
People also don't trust the mainstream media anymore. And everybody knows it. The way I view it; we're simply fed up - albeit insulted - by the coverage we're being shown on a routine basis. It's all just fluff meant to distract us from the larger themes we're not supposed to talk about like the decline of masculinity.
At The Hungry Beaver, we value our viewer's time, energy and money. So why would we waste our life on stories we cannot control. This is why we created this website in the first place. We wanted to not only deliver conservative news, but also share our takes for how one can apply change to their daily lives.
In short, "tick tock" news is a massive waste of time.
Instead, we recommend designing a personal plan for news intake. This could mean relying on only a handful of stories per day. Or even ditching media consumption all together in place of books and other literature that has withheld the test of time. It's crazy to me, for example, how much I have learned about POLITICS and the left's socialist talking points through Basic Economics.
To close, here is an excerpt from Mike Cernovich on the decline of the MSM:
Twenty years ago, everyone believed the New York Times
People who only started paying attention to news and politics in the past few years don’t get it. Even a decade ago, one hit piece from a “credible” media outlet was enough to end you. People would kill themselves, as they didn’t see a way past the smear.
Now hit pieces make you more popular, which is why the Stasi quickly sought to take over social media giants to get people banned directly.
People assume that if you’re declared evil by the regime’s propaganda outlets, then you must be good. It is really hard to truly cancel a person via negative news coverage. That’s why the regime’s latest efforts have been with rigging juries against conservatives.
Do your research. Take your time when formulating life game plans. And always keep an eye out for how you can stay adaptive in today's rapidly changing world. But, no matter what, be mindful of how much TIME you are devoting to all the things you cannot control.
"Tick Tock" news is additive by nature, however, once you recognize that, you will be more inclined to getting as far away from it as you can.
