Dear ,

Why breastfeeding is painful for so many women?

Basically, painful breastfeeding is caused by incorrect latching and subsequent nipple pain.

Painful breastfeeding is one of the top reasons why mothers stop breastfeeding.

Correct the latch. Wide open mouth with nipples and areola inside the mouth.

Breastfeed in a proper position. Breastfeeding in awkward positions can even cause body pains.

Push the baby’s back towards the breast. Don’t push the head.

The head should be tilted upward and not faced downward towards the breast.

Relax.

It is very important to relax when breastfeeding.

More Oxytocin is released from your brain when you’re relaxed.

Kaya madali din ang flow ng gatas from the breast.

Avoid being stressed.

Kapag stressed kasi mas maraming cortisol ang nare-release ng brain which lessens Oxytocin.

Mas mahirap ang labas ng gatas kapag walang Oxytocin dahil ito ang responsible for the milk ejection reflex (MER).

Pro-tip: warm compress your shoulders, shoulder blades, and upper back to achieve relaxation.

Kaya ating tandaan…

Mothers and children should be allowed to breastfeed, anytime and anywhere.

It’s God’s natural design of how babies should eat.

Kaya sa pagpapabreastfeed mo inay…

You’re doing great!

Nagmamahal,

Mommy Fivemay
