Class Descriptions - Nov and Dec 2022

RANUNCULUS SWEATER KNIT-A-ALONG

Sat, Nov 5, Nov 26, Dec 10,and Dec 24              1-4 pm                                                                       Free

Fri, Nov 11 and Dec 2

The Ranunculus Pattern by Midori Hirose is extremely popular on Ravelry with over 13,000 projects completed! This is another versatile pattern that is top down, can be short or long sleeve, and you have the option on the amount of ease you want to build in. The pattern description notes: “You can use lace, light fingering to worsted weight yarn. The degree of transparency depends on the weight of yarn. Knitting with thin yarn on big needle gives light, transparent and airy texture to this pullover. Using thicker yarn or holding two yarns together adds more weight, and more structured look.”  Intermediate skill level.  We’ll be continuing this class through October and November.

HAT AND MITTEN KNIT-A-LONG

Fri, Nov 18 and Dec 16                                        1 to 4 pm                                                                     Free

Are you a beginning or novice knitter or crocheter who would like to learn to work a project in the round.  Then join us for this class to learn first how to knit a hat on one circular needle and then step up to using two circular needles or magic loop to work the top of the hat and the mittens.  Patterns will be easy stocking caps with your choice of with or without ear flaps.  Mittens also be easy standard mittens.  Both patterns are easily adaptable to different weights of yarn.  Crocheters will learn an easy crochet linen stitch hat that by using two colors will create a vertical stripe.

FELTED SLIPPERS

Fri Nov 4 and Sat Nov 19                                  1 to 4 pm                                                                             Free

Whether they are knitted or crocheted, these felted slippers will keep everyone’s feet warm and toasty this winter.  Uses one strand of bulky or two strand of a worsted weight wool yarn and size M hook or US 10 needles to create large over-sized slippers.  Then felt them down to the correct size in the washing machine with hot water.   Patterns are available for both children and adult sizes.  Check out the samples on display at the store.

FIX-IT FRIDAY – FIXING HOLES

What do you do if you notice a dropped stitch after you’ve already finished your project?  Or you snag your sleeve or get a moth hole?  Learn how to fix small problems like these with duplicate stitch and darning.  Learning how to do the duplicate stitch can solve a multitude of problems, even correcting a backwards cable.

PIKACHU PILLOW

Sat, Dec 3                                                            1 to 4 pm                                                                     Free

Fri, Dec 9

A request for a Christmas present led me to create a pattern for a Pikachu pillow.  Using knit or cross stich charts you can make a pillow from almost any character or design.  Designs can be worked up in either knit or crochet using intarsia, stranded work, and embroidery.  A fun and fast project using chunky weight yarn and big needles and hooks.  Makes perfect gifts for kids or adults.

LAST MINUTE COWL

Sat, Dec 17                                                           1 to 4 pm                                                                     Free

Fri, Dec 23

Here’s the perfect project for last minute gifts.  Cowls or smaller neck warmers can be made with as little as one skein of yarn in almost any weight.  For a fast project choose a super chunky yarn worked on big needles which can be finished in a day or weekend.  Simple patterns such as K1, P1 ribbing or an eyelet stitch mean you don’t have to remember a complicated design.
