The big news is that our 2025 Chapbook Contest has a new deadline this year: 07.15.25. Otherwise pretty much as usual.

You might ask, but what about the new Chapbook Contest Series? Oh indeed they are out—and they are fabulous:

In order, left to right, just one blurb apiece:

  1. [Chapbook Contest Winner] Lorenzo Barajas’s poems soak up pleasure to drool it back out. Slipping out of a sweaty dress, he leaves a love trail to follow in the morning. Fantasy sidles up to the obvious, where Barajas knows gratitude is foraged, not bought: It’s there if you know how to look for it. These poems say love is what gets you inside, and inside is a space the size of the world.    —Charles Theonia
  2. In your fantasy, am I duck or dog? The world is ending, but not as fast as one might hope, so let’s kill time at the 7/11 forever. Let’s kill all the time. You bring your bloodlust and your Warhol wig, I’ll bring my copy of Paul Cunningham’s Sociocide at the 24/7, plus the ant-farm I’ve wired to my fear receptors. Here, hold this riveting glittery reliquary of our glitchy lateness, slick w/ambivalence. Btw I drank your smoothie of Gila monster venom, microplastics & adaptogens, so cold and so sweet. —Joyelle McSweeney
  3. New American Monarch unveils the transformative journey of an individual navigating through the complexities of self-discovery, adversity, and resilience. Through a blend of poignant narratives and vivid poetry, this collection delves into the essence of change, mirroring the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly as a metaphor for human growth amidst profound challenges. “New American Monarch” resonates with those at the crossroads of identity, offering a reflective and empowering exploration of the struggles and triumphs that define the path to personal evolution. This book is a testament to the beauty of becoming, which we always are, inviting readers to embrace their own journeys of renewal and the profound realizations that accompany the process of transformation.” —Javon Johnson
