Hello !
On Tuesday, we explored the struggles many professionals face with goal-setting, using Bimbo's journey.
Today, let's learn some strategies that helped Bimbo move from a perennial goal-setter to a goal-achiever.
Perhaps the most critical thing Bimbo learned about goal-setting was the need to align her goals with her values.
, the truth is that when your goals resonate with your core values, they become more than tasks to accomplish; they become a part of who you are.
This alignment adds passion and purpose to your pursuit, making it more likely for you to succeed.
Then, Bimbo adopted the Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) approach to setting her career goals.
This framework provided her with clarity and structure.
So instead of making vague statements like "Get better at project management", she set goals like "Attain a project management certification within the next six months".
To help her stay on track, Bimbo partnered with a colleague who also had career goals.
They checked in with each other regularly, offering support, advice, and sometimes a gentle push when needed.
Perhaps the most critical aspect of Bimbo's game plan was action.
Essentially, Bimbo was no longer satisfied with setting goals; she took decisive action daily to work toward them.
Now I have a confession.
Like Bimbo, I had a similar challenge with one of my goals for 2023: to write a book for mid-level professionals.
However, I realized during my evaluation and review of the goal that I can still achieve it this year with some help.
So, I have secured the necessary help and would like you to hold me accountable for my commitment.
How? you ask.
It's pretty simple.
I'd like you to consider pre-ordering the book on Black Friday.
, knowing you have paid me to read the book will compel me to finish it and ensure I meet my goal.
Finally, from Bimbo's transformation and my personal experience, I'm sure you agree that it's time to incorporate the following strategies into your goal-setting process:
- Align your goals with your core values.
- Adopt the SMART approach to setting your goals.
- Find an accountability partner, coach or mentor.
- Regularly evaluate and review your progress.
- Most importantly, take action daily.
, follow these steps, and I guarantee you'll see a remarkable change in your ability to set and achieve your career goals.
And don't forget to hold me accountable by pre-ordering my book on Black Friday.
Warm regards,
Coach BSO
