The final 24 hours and your questions answered

Jun 13, 2021 5:01 pm

Friday I sent out an email expressing how this launch has been for me and asking you how it has been for you to get these emails, what you're hearing the Empathy Gym is, and for any questions you had.

First off thank you for your responses! Second, let's get them answered:

What exactly is it again?

The Empathy Gym is something we created so that you can continue your practice of NVC. It is all about learning new concepts and exercising your NVC muscles in a safe, structured environment to make sure they are as strong as possible when you need them. The Gym is a safe, judgment-free zone designed to help you work out what is alive for you when we meet.

We do this through a variety of sessions to give you complete knowledge of and competence to use NVC across the dance floor. Currently, there are 5 75-minute sessions a week with 4 of them being our Routine Workout where up to 16 people come together, check-in, express mourning and celebrations, break out into triads to share empathy, and then come back together for a demonstration of working through something that is alive for someone. And then 1 session each week is a special themed session rotating between Empathy, Expression, Connecting Requests, and Action Requests among others.

What benefits will I see from joining the Empathy Gym?

I want to be clear that these are guesses from us because we're just launching so we're not sure, but based off similar things we've done in the past we think these certain needs will be fulfilled, among others:

  1. First and foremost learning and growth. We have worked with an amazing Instructional Designer to create an experience to help you move from theory to practice to mastery. If you'd like to learn more about the Empathy Gym program and what we've created I think our Certification Path page is very informative, even if you are not looking to become certified.
  2. Community and connection: These are broad ones but we believe you will celebrate belonging, collaboration, support, and care throughout the variety of session types as you learn together, interact with everyone and give and receive empathy.
  3. Ease, comfort, support, being heard: As you breakout into dyads and triads and share, many people feel lighter, and more at ease. Some even say it's like therapy they enjoy going to.

When do the sessions meet?

Right now the sessions are, all in EST, Mondays 3pm, Tuesdays 10am, Thursdays 7pm, Fridays 10am and Sundays 9am. And as we grow we'll be adding more sessions.

Can I join if I don't want to become certified and/or a Facilitator?

Yes definitely. Most of our members are not looking to become certified and/or a Facilitator. They join because they'd like to continue their practice, experience support and care, and be surrounded by people who meet their need for safety and kindness.

How many sessions can I or do I have to show up?

This is where it's just like a gym. You can show up to as few or as many sessions as you'd like.

How do I become a Facilitator?

This is best explained here.

Ok, I think that about covers it. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out.

And remember there's only about 24 hours left. Tomorrow at midnight the membership rates will go back to normal. Click here to sign up now.

See you in the sessions,

Cindy
