WWU54: Kaizen, CANI, and Workplace Hostility From a Listener

Aug 10, 2022 9:41 am

Happy Wednesday,

Cindy was listening to an Optimize (now known as Heroic) +1 and thought it was a great concept to share with you. How can we continue to experience more connection, greater relationships, and a higher quality of life? And... how can we encourage and teach others to do the same?

Well through demonstration and doing. And... embracing Kaizen and CANI.

The Japanese concept of Kaizen literally translates to "improvement". As Brian Johnson says "Kaizen is all about the process of small, CONSISTENT changes OVER TIME." Or as Tony Robbin calls it, CANI.

Constant.

And.

Never-Ending.

Improvement.

If we can commit to taking small actions daily and consistently stack these tiny improvements over time they compound into big results - more connection, more ease and space, greater relationships, and a greater life.

So what is one small thing you can do today to take a small step or commitment in your NVC practice? Maybe it is as simple as stopping, taking 3 deep breaths, and connecting with what you are feeling. Or maybe you can give yourself some emergency empathy and identify a need. It's up to you.

But just like with any behavior change, commit to tiny actions that build up over time to create a new you, a future you as we talked about last week.

🎙️ Podcast Episode 99: Workplace Hostility From a Listener

In Episode 99, Dr. B and Heather respond to a caller who left a message about a difficult work interaction. Some of the topics discussed include Intensity Practice, WAITing as an active process, how to guide someone to give you empathy if they don't know NVC, screwing up NVC, and having a do-over. They also talk about how there is no failing NVC because it all serves one's learning.
