Hey Ho, Tenebrous Cult!
Are you feeling Weird? We're feeling Weird, in all the best possible ways.
So let's get right to it.
The BRAVE NEW WEIRD Table of Contents
The Weird Fiction scene is as healthy now as it's ever been, and I think this collection—our fourth!—might have the broadest appeal yet. Much as Tenebrous continues to evolve, so has our selections process, embracing both material that blows a knowing kiss to convention, as well as some of the most outré stories being told today: whatthefuckery that experiments with both form and subject matter. I can confidently say there's something in this volume for everyone...as long as you like it Weird.
Without further ado, please put your hands, feet and tentacles together for 2025's BRAVE NEW WEIRD Award Winners:

Preorders are open now for SPLIT SCREAM: CURSED PLACES!
***Preorders and sale technically opened yesterday, but in solidarity with today's National Shutdown, we encourage you to do your shopping on another day.
The cult favorite twin-novelette series is back..and it's cursed. Authors Sonora Taylor and Matthew Pritt each take us far from grace and into two very different worlds in SPLIT SCREAM: CURSED PLACES.
First, in Passing Glance by Sonora Taylor:
Washington, D.C.’s sprawling and storied Moore Mansion is built upon intrigue and secrecy, playing host to both political elites and the merely curious alike. Its labyrinthine rooms and passageways, festooned in eclectic art and mysterious mirrors, captivate all who explore them.
Dylan arrives at the mansion for her friend’s 30th birthday party at a crossroads of her own: adrift, eager to reunite with old friends, and seeking to rekindle a long-held lust for one of the group. But tonight she will discover the true terrifying secrets of Moore Mansion: a house built to be a city, and one which unfolds like a trap.
Then, in Matthew Pritt's Lash Egg:
The people of the Doe’s country walk in the Balance, attuned to the land and guided by their benevolent nature spirit. For Ben, a refugee who narrowly escaped the madness-infested Bear’s country to the south, the Doe remains a mystery. Ben has never heard the Doe speak, and marvels at his neighbors’ firsthand experiences with his new home’s Protector. Fortunately his ten-year-old daughter, Lydia, doesn’t share his struggles, and adapts to life in the Doe with ease.
But when a mysterious wasting plague attacks the local wildlife, Ben suspects he is the cause of it. As the plague spreads and threatens to collapse the Doe’s entire ecosystem, Ben must discover how he has offended the Doe, or risk losing the only safe place he and his daughter have ever known.
"Full of cosmic horrors that twist and shimmer”

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS
You know us, and you know indie horror, so there's a good chance you already know Toronto's Little Ghosts Books, one of the finest horror bookstores in the world, and some of the most wonderful folks we've had the privilege of hanging with.
Well, they've outgrown their space and are looking to expand, and they need our—and your—help!
Here's co-owner Chris Krawczyk to tell you all about it:
Little Ghosts Books was founded on a book list and a dream of indie and queer horror community, and it is that very real community haunting the space that has allowed us to operate for nearly four amazing years! Book Clubs, writers workshops, socials, and readings became lifeblood of what makes Little Ghosts so special. If you have been to a Little Ghosts event, you have gotten very cozy with other folks in our admittedly little storefront space. This year, in order to better serve you, we are looking to fund a renovation for a workshop space that would increase our footprint. Every little bit helps to make this third space work for even more exciting creative workshops, marketplace events, and more. Thanks so much for your support of our little bookshop!
You can read all about their plans here; please consider donating!
Be safe today, friends. Be a shoulder if you can, and just as importantly, find a shoulder if you need. From Cluj, Romania and Portland, Oregon: you are loved. You are seen.
Hail New Weird Horror.
Hail Indie Publishing.
Hail the Tenebrous Cult.
