Halloween is a fun time for costumes, outdoor activities, and sweet treats, but it can also be a tricky time for your skin. Here are a few tips to keep your skin healthy while you celebrate:
Costume Tips To Avoid Skin Condition Flare Ups
- Applying Makeup: Test products on a small patch of skin 24- 48 hours before applying. Look for labels like hypoallergenic or non-comedogenic, and avoid craft paints or glitters not meant for skin use.
- Costumes: Whether your costume still has tags or has been in storage, pre-washing and cleaning your items can help to remove irritants. Ensuring costumes fit properly and won’t rub against your skin as you move can be helpful as well.
- Proper Makeup Removal: Heavy or oily costume makeup can clog pores and irritate conditions like acne, eczema, and rosacea. After the fun, gently remove makeup with a fragrance-free cleanser or micellar water.
Tips for Trick or Treating
- Candy & Your Skin: Excess sugar can sometimes trigger breakouts or worsen inflammation in certain skin conditions. Enjoy your treats in moderation and drink plenty of water.
- Cool Weather Alert: As temperatures drop, skin can become dry and sensitive. Switch to a thicker moisturizer, use lukewarm water when washing, and consider a humidifier indoors.
Wishing you a safe, happy, and glowingly healthy Halloween!
