Tretinoin: The rising cult-favorite.

What is Tretinoin?

Tretinoin is a vitamin A derivative that gently removes dead skin cells and unclogs plugged pores allowing for acne to dissipate and clear skin to thrive.

Tretinoin started being used for acne treatment in the 1960s, but was not popularly recognized for its skin rejuvenating properties until the 1980s (Baldwin et al., 2013; Stüttgen, 1986).

While plain tretinoin has become risen again as cult-favorite in the skincare world, there are different types of compounded tretinoin creams that can fit a patient's individual needs.

For example, SkinMedicinals is a pharmacy that compounds tretinoin with niacinamide and azelaic acid to reduce redness and brighten the skin.
