Welcome back to Fab Fiction Friday where I share books and authors I think you'll love as well as update you on my writing journey!

WRITING UPDATE

I actually have a little news to share...sort of. It's exciting to me, at least.

Since the beginning of January, I have written a little over 10k words! 🎉 Considering I ended December with 28 words (you read that right, 28) this has been a HUGE achievement.

Rhett & Dana's story has taken me on a journey, or rather, several journeys, all but one of them leading me to a dead end. But I thank God for my critique partners who have talked through the plot with me for endless hours this last month and I think and pray that I am finally on the right path.

When I tell you Rhett Stryker has made me work for it (I know I've said that before but it's even more true now) I mean it. He has NOT wanted to share his past with me. Sure, I've had a few facts, but now I am 99.9999% sure I understand him and know most of what I need to know about him to finish this story! (Most being the key word because I am very much a discovery writer.)

And I'm not letting Dana off the hook either, she's played her past close to the chest as well but hasn't been as mysterious as her hero.

So...with that being said, I am hoping to finish up the first draft over the next month or 2, Lord willing of course! Then get it over to my critique partners for their feed back then to beta readers and finally my editor.

Do I have a release date or month yet? No. Year? Yes...well, I think. Lord willing, When Forever Stays will be out later this year. So there is that for what it's worth.

CURRENT READ

This is a little different than what I've done in the past, but for this week, I'm going to share what I'm currently reading:

Through Thorny Ways by Jennifer Q. Hunt :

With secrets dating back two generations, will Wisteria House unite or destroy an already-fractured family?

Shrouded in scandal and secrets, Arilee Rutledge’s family is as tangled as the thorns surrounding their unwelcoming antebellum mansion. When her brother Davis returns from the Great War, she hopes they will make a new start after a season of devastation. But Davis is haunted by their younger brother’s death and his wife’s committal to the state asylum; while he loses himself in his work, Arilee continues raising his children. Determined to control at least one area of their lives, the siblings hire a former acquaintance to restore their dilapidated home.

Thrown from a carefree boyhood into the horrors of trench warfare, Adam Harrison is broken yet matured by his experiences. He takes a job updating and repairing Wisteria House, not only to pay his way through medical school, but in hopes of winning the woman he has long admired. A startling discovery plunges them all into a series of events revealing dark mysteries and shaking their already-uncertain future.

Can the thorns of grief, pain, and regret ever be cleared from their troubled hearts?

For those who love the Church, for those who have been hurt by the Church, and for those of us who are both, Jennifer Q. Hunt brings a poignant new family saga in which the challenges of life are not glossed over and hope in Christ is never underestimated. Powerful and compelling, Through Thorny Ways is a story of sacrifice and family, forgiveness and love, new beginnings and utter dependence on the Lord. Find a permanent place on your shelf, because once you travel to 1921 Atlanta with Hunt, you aren't going to want to leave. —Heather Wood, Author of the Finding Home series.

MY THOUGHTS...

I don't have a whole lot to say yet because I'm only on chapter 2, but this book has come HIGHLY recommended by one of my best friends and I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to love it.

I mean to start off, isn't that cover gorgeous?

Historical romance isn't my go-to genre but I've been told Jennifer writes really strong faith and isn't afraid to tackle gritty topics with grace. Those are my favorite things in fiction so I am very much looking forward to getting into the story more and seeing this story unfold. (I'll share my review once I finish!)

It is also on sale for 0.99 in ebook today in celebration of the second book of the Wisteria House series, All Now Mysterious's release which also happens to be today!

Let me know if you've read these or plan to!

This week's newsletter was short and (hopefully) sweet. I may be dropping down the frequency of my planned newsletters to every other week for a bit since I don't always have things to share. But my inbox is always open if you need prayer or just want to chat!

Have a fabulous weekend!
