{{contact.first_name}} Here's March's Fab Fiction Friday

It's Good Friday!
Thanks for being here ,
It's been a while--and that has been intentional. Not because I don't want to talk to you--I totally do!--but because my previous emails have felt "spammy" and that's not how I want you to feel when you get an email from me.
I am planning on dropping back down to one email a month, unless I have a release planned that month or the next. There's not always a writing update worth sharing and I don't want to clog your inbox with unhelpful/boring emails.
HOWEVER, if you ever want to reach out and chat--PLEASE FEEL FREE! I love talking to you all and love getting emails from you! You can email me back here: tawni.suchy@gmail.com OR pop onto Instagram/Facebook and send me a DM. Whatever you prefer 🥰
Now that the bit of "housekeeping" is in order, I'll break down what you will find in this month's email:
- Writing update
- Meet the character: Rosa Grimes
- West & Olivia's Facelift!
- Book feature of @tawnisbookshelf
- Reminder about my Reader Group
- Good Friday Encouragement
Welcome back to Fab Fiction Friday where I share books and authors I think you'll love as well as update you on my writing journey!
WRITING UPDATE
This writing update has both positive and negative news.
First, the positive: I have close to 70k words written! 🎉
The bad news: I have no idea how many of those words are useful.
So I am working through my chapters and trying to decide what things stay and what things need to go. This story has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs and trying to figure out what fits in the story and what doesn't since the very beginning. And unfortunately, that has equaled a very time-consuming process.
However! I did introduce a new character who I think will be critical to the heart of the story and I am VERY excited for what she'll bring to the table. So, without further adieu...
MEET THE CHARACTER
ROSA GRIMES
Rosa Grimes is a woman after God's heart.
Rosa, like most things in this book, has come out of no where. She has a background I think will be a huge encouragement to many Christian women.
Here are a few facts about her:
- She is Dana's mentor.
- She meets Rhett in a very unconventional way. 🤭
- She loves Jesus with her whole heart.
There's not much more I can share with you now. Partly because I'm still getting to know her myself and partly because what I DO know could be a bit of a spoiler for what I have planned in the book.
But that is something NEW and exciting I can share with you about this never-ending WIP lol.
WEST AND OLIVIA'S FACELIFT:
I commissioned K. Leah (a fellow Christian romance author) to create unique, custom character art for West and Olivia (she will be working on Rhett & Dana soon!) And with the new character art, I am working on the updated ebook and (maybe) audiobook covers! Those are both still in the works and I plan on sharing some options in my Facebook group if you'd be interested in sharing your opinion when that time comes!
But here they are 🥹 aren't they just precious?! They fit their descriptions much better than the original stock art I had for them and I'm in love with this updated version! (Maybe we'll get to see them in a future giveaway too? Who knows? 🤭)
@TAWNISBOOKSHELF SPOTLIGHT
In here I will choose a book to highlight and share it with you! Every book I share here has been personally read and vetted by me.
This week's book is:
The Radiance of the Moon by Ashley Worrell:
THE FATE OF THE KINGDOM OF THE ISLES RESTS IN THEIR HANDS…
The year is 1383, and the Wolf of Badenoch has conducted a terroristic campaign across the Highlands to increase his wealth and land holdings. Now he's turned his sights from Scotland to the Kingdom of the Isles. Seeking to keep the Wolf’s superior fighting forces out of his island nation, the King of the Isles turns to Chieftain Hector MacLean for help.
A survivor of the Hundred Years’ War, Hector’s reputation proceeds him. Brutal, clever, he is perhaps the greatest warrior Scotland or the Isles has ever produced—as if the man has a gift for killing. But after changing his life, Hector has no interest in returning to his old ways.
When his hand is forced, Hector discovers that the deadly combatant he used to be isn’t gone, but lurking just beneath the surface. With a new mission and purpose, Hector forms an elite team of warriors to protect the Isles, their clans, and their way of life—and send the Wolf back to the abyss.
MY REVIEW
What an absolutely beautiful book!
The faith was strong and solid throughout the entire story. Cara and Hector both had strong faith but it was definitely tested many times throughout the trials they faced.
Both characters were flawed and likable and from their first meeting you can’t help but root for their happily ever after.
I loved the inspiration from Ruth and Boaz and how Margaret was such a strong character in the story as Cara’s support.
Medieval Scotland isn’t a destination I typically travel while on my fictional vacations but this book definitely piqued my interest and I can NOT wait to read what else Ashley Worrell has in store for this place!

GOOD FRIDAY ENCOURAGEMENT
, I pray you know:
You are LOVED. Oh so deeply. I think the biggest thing that separates Christianity from other "religions" is the RELATIONSHIP we get to have with our God.
Today on Good Friday is the day we celebrate how it became possible to form a relationship with our Creator: the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, died so that we--imperfect and wicked humans--can be in direct communication with our Lord.
It's through that relationship that we are transformed into the people He created us to be. We're not expected to change or grow alone--it's impossible and why after Jesus's ascension we were provided the gift of the Holy Spirit to indwell us and transform us to be more like Jesus.
Today should be a humbling day and one of awe and reverence. We didn't deserve what Jesus did. He did it anyway.
Thank you Jesus for loving us enough to die for us and being powerful enough to defeat sin and death.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
I pray you all have a blessed weekend!
