WRITING UPDATE
WHEN FOREVER STAYS
For WEEKS Rhett has been giving me problems, or I should say how I imagined Rhett has been giving me problems. This may sound crazy, but Rhett was not the character I was writing, I wasn't telling his story correctly, which is why (I believe so anyway) I had hit a wall in my writing for WEEKS. But I have been able to get him on the page as he's meant to be--in all of his mysterious and broody glory. If you read When Forever Comes you're going to think "Rhett wasn't broody." Which is true...but something happened over the last year, something that altered Rhett's outlook on life and...let's just say, he's not handling it well.
Thankfully, our sweet and sassy Dana swoops in to save the day and give Rhett a fresh perspective on life...and God. I am so excited to see where these characters and story take me over the next few weeks/months.
AUTHOR LIFE UPDATE
I had so much fun at the Local Author Showcase last weekend! Not only did I get to meet new readers, I got to connect with current readers and a friend who I've been online friends with for YEARS! It was so awesome meeting her in person and getting to hang out for a bit! Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of pictures, but here is a little collage to see what it looked like!
STUFF YOUR KINDLE
A few times a year, hundreds of romance authors (covering many different sub genres of romance and ranging in heat level) get together and put at least one of their books up for free. This time around, they set it for 3 days, September 20-22 so yes, today is the final day. If you are interested in getting tons of free books, check out this blog where they share most (if not all) of them! And of course make sure the price is marked as FREE before purchasing.

FICTION SPOTLIGHT
In here I will choose a book to highlight and share it with you! Every book I share here has been personally read and vetted by me.
This week's book is:
Boundless by Amy Caldwell
The only place that Oakleigh Davenport feels close to God is when she's out in the ocean riding the waves on her surfboard, which is ironic because feeling close to God is the family business. Being an influencer, socialite, and daughter of a prominent megachurch pastor is no easy image to uphold. After a reputation destroying mistake, Oakleigh's world comes crashing down as she is forced to forfeit her social status, clout, and trust fund, leaving her to solely rely on the charity of others. Trading her surfboard for a pair of cowboy boots, she is exiled to Callaway Ranch, a little corner of the world that belongs to her Aunt Maeve, the whispered about black sheep of the family.
Through it all, she realizes that things aren't always as they seem and that family secrets run deep. As she searches to find her identity apart from everything she's ever known, Oakleigh discovers that her journey at Callaway Ranch comes complete with boundless love and compassion, handsome bull riders, and a soul-filling cup of cowboy coffee.
MY REVIEW
This book was incredible.
I went into this book pretty blind. This is Amy’s debut novel but it reads like it was written by a seasoned novelist.
Oakleigh is a “Christian influencer” with millions of followers and was born into a “ministry family” where judgmental/unloving/unChrist-like individuals filled her life. She was self-centered and worldly—but privately. After her fall from her pedestal she is sent to live with her Aunt Maeve, a woman she’s never met and was banished from her family when she was just a girl.
The romance in this book was light, but super sweet, and added well to the plot.
The faith was incredible through it, especially as reflected in Aunt Maeve. She’s a woman who loves as Jesus loves despite the hurts she faced.
This story captures “church hurt” well and shows how Christians should forgive man’s imperfections but hold firm to their faith, knowing that church hurt comes from man and not God. She also healed from it and became a stronger believer because of it, turning her selfishness into selflessness and learning how to love like Jesus and forgive even when it’s the last thing she wanted to do.
