Welcome back to Fab Fiction Friday where I share books and authors I think you'll love as well as update you on my writing journey!

WRITING UPDATE

Rhett and Dana are still chugging along, slowly but surely. I am going to try and start writing every day...so we'll see how that goes. I don't want to force the story if it's not meant to be written a certain way--my first goal always is to honor and glorify God in my writing, which means writing the story HE wants me to write. But I'll be honest, a big part of my struggle is just sitting down (or standing at my desk) and writing. I get distracted easily and I just need to prioritize my time better. There will never be a perfect balance, but things are super unbalanced for me right now--and it's on me, no one else. So that's one of the things I want to focus on each day.

Do you have any new years resolutions?

LIFE UPDATE

2023 was not a bad year for my family, but it also wasn't an easy one. Like everyone else, we had our ups and downs as the months went by. And it's easy to focus on all of the negative things that happened, whether they're big or small, but one thing remains the same: God is good.

Whether it's in the moments of happiness and goodness or in gloominess and darkness that we face, we should always be praising God and remembering that He is in EVERYTHING. And if nothing else, each struggle is an opportunity and a push to grow closer to Him.

So my goal for 2024 is to keep that mindset through each and every trial and obstacle I face.

My prayer is that 2024 is a year where we all draw near to God and experience Him in every situation: good or bad.

SWEET CHRISTIAN ROMANCE

An eight-second ride only feels like forever. True forever? That feels like home.

Alyssa Morgan could have buckled when Hunter left for the rodeo, taking her heart with him. And she could have withered when her grandfather died and left her alone. Instead, she has made a beautiful life for herself in Pine Creek. Right next door to Hunter’s family. Which was fine, since he was never coming back.

Hunter Carlson isn’t ready to say goodbye to the professional rodeo circuit. But when the doctor warns him that another concussion could leave him permanently injured—or worse—he is left with no choice but to head back to Pine Creek. Working on the family ranch isn’t as exciting as a bucking bull, but it should pay the bills.

Alyssa is speechless when Hunter comes back to town. Pine Creek isn’t exactly bustling, and any of Alyssa’s attempts to avoid Hunter are hopeless. She’s on the ranch as much as he is and there’s a big problem:

She expected to hate him…Not for the feelings to come rushing back after all these years.

@TAWNISBOOKSHELF SPOTLIGHT

I'm switching things up this week. Usually here I'll choose one book that I share my review on, but since we are freshly into the new year and only a few days ago, I wrapped up my reading goal on Goodreads, I'll share my top 5 books of 2023:

  1. To Believe in You by Emily Conrad
  2. Man of Shadow and Mist by Michelle Griep
  3. To Bring You Back by Emily Conrad
  4. Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese
  5. Three Days to Forget by Dulcie Dameron

I've read multiple books by each of these authors (I've read ALL of Emily and Dulcie's books) and all 5 of these women write strong, authentic faith into their books. None of them have written anything I wouldn't recommend.

So if you are looking for some books to add to your endless TBR, I 10/10 recommend each of these books. Or if you're on the hunt for your favorite author, any of these women would be excellent choices 😉
