Why Transparency Is A Must?
It's OK to be transparent ! And it is OK to work transparently in order everyone knows what you do and how!
Welcome to Takis Newsletter #367 focusing on how to drive yourself and your work more effectively in out new digital world.
This is one of the main principles of my life and embedded to my operation procedures. And transparency is a concept that returns many time in different forms to remind me that the things are not so clear and cool as should be!
One Thing I Know About Transparency
Monday morning I had a difficult situation to handle. I had to drive my kid to the hospital with a respiratory problem (she had pneumonia 2 months ago and that alarm us a lot!) and my car developed a problem.
As I was returning I had a flash from my car's console for "Service ESP" and all the alarms for ABS and skiing control on the red.
I drive an Open Astra (Diesel) and, as a focused father of 2 small kids, everything related to my family's safety becomes my #1 priority.
ESP at Opel Astra car stands for:
Electronic Stability Programme. It is a safety feature that is designed to help the driver maintain control of the vehicle by minimising the risk of loss of traction or skidding ([What is ESP? How does ESP work on your car?](What is ESP? How does ESP work on your car? | RAC Drive).
And that means that needs a car repair shop and immediate fixing.
I had the good fortune to have a car designed from people know well the concepts of safety and transparency, aiming at providing all the necessary information for a certain situation beforehand.
Due to this information I was able to plan my car maintenance and have my mechanics know what they had to deal with when I would take my car for fixing the problems that have been presented.
Transparency Can Save Your Life and Work!
This is exactly the way procedures, habits, and rituals work. If you have adopted the transparency as a major operation principle in your work and life you would have the time and space to design your actions (and most importantly your re-actions) in a consistent and clear manner, aiming towards clearly defined goals.
This is true for 90% of the situations you need to cope with in your daily life.
Of course there are things you cannot predict beforehand and they need your attention and initiatives in order to have a well-defined output.
For me the planning is of major importance and integral part of my workflow.
That's why I spend so much time design and using the right notebooks and planners or develop tutorials , [tools](Notion Tutorials and Free Templates | Takis Athanassiou) and solutions for special situations.
What do you do in such situations ? Do you think that you can embed transparency in your way of living and working? Do you cherish the value of transparent procedures? If you do, please send me a note!
For now, stay tuned, stay intentional and stay focused!
