Hi !

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe, wherever you are.

This issue is a special one for me personally because... *drum rolls please*... we have officially crossed the 1,000 newsletter subscribers! *throws imaginary confetti*

I am super excited about this milestone - I love writing and sharing my thoughts around personal growth & self-development, and I'm grateful to have you all on this journey with me!

In today's issue, I want to write about one of my favorite topics - personal branding.

Someone recently shared this old article with me, and I feel that even though this article is almost as old as I am, the message that this article conveys is still valid and true 20-odd years later.

And, if you are too busy to read the whole (long) article, I want to share with you the top takeaways from the article (the TLRD; version for us lazy-bums!).

Takeaway 1: Self-reflection is important.

The first step in branding yourself (or a business, etc) is to really understand yourself and what you have to offer.

What is different about you than other people out there? What are you good at? If you were to pass away today, what would other people say about you? What if your most significant trait or personality?

You need to dig deep within yourself to fully understand who you are as a person, and what you would like people to know you with.

And, remember, you have to be honest and open with yourself!

Takeaway 2: Consistency is key.

When crafting out your personal brand, it is important to remember to stay consistent. If you are on social media, make sure you are portraying the same personas across all your pages. You have to walk the talk - you don't want to pretend to be someone else.

This also includes the way you act and respond to others - from answering phone calls or text messages to how you reply to emails. Every little thing that you do reflect on your brand and how people perceive you, so make sure you are staying true to your brand.

Takeaway 3: There is no one single path to success.

If I can ask you to remember one thing from this whole email, it will be this - remember that your journey to success is unique to you.

Everyone has their own pathways to success, so focus on what works for you and your own personal brand. Do not be overwhelmed with other people and their versions of success, as it may not be the same for you.

This is extremely important in today's social media age, as you would see a lot of people sharing their 'successes' - new jobs, new cars, new houses, new accomplishments.

It can be easy to be envious of others' successes, so always remind yourself to focus on your own journey - focus on what you want to achieve and how to get there.

We're reaching the end of 2020.

As I mentioned two weeks ago, I will be recording a vlog to wrap up the year. Please reply to this email with any questions or suggestions you would like me to talk about in the video, I am still open to your ideas! :)

And, as always, my inbox is open if you want to share any good or bad stories from 2020. What are your highest high(s) and lowest low(s)? What are some of the things you have accomplished this year? Any regrets from this year? I want to hear from you!

Alright, I think that should be it for now. Until I see you again in two weeks' time - stay safe, take care, and stay awesome everyone :)

Love,

Nazu xx
