Stop, Slow Down, & Go Back To Your Roots 🌱

"Go back to your roots"
What is the benefit of going backward?
Why not just keep your eyes on the prize and push forward?
I prefer to think of it as:
"Zooming out"
The benefits of zooming out are obvious:
You have worked on a drawing or other art project of some sort.
And every time you do you take a step back to see the bigger picture.
But we rarely do this with our lives.
Isn't your life a "project" itself?
Aren't you trying to build something?
If you are, then you need to step back from time to time.
"Am I chasing things I actually want"
"Have the things I want changed?"
"Am I too far off course?"
We think these things are obvious, but you won't know until you step back.
Just like when you're painting – it's easy to get caught up in perfecting one little brush stroke while the rest of your painting suffers from a lack of attention.
Don't do this with your life.
You can spend years of your life caught up with:
1) The wrong friends
2) The wrong partner
3) The wrong location
4) The wrong projects
5) The wrong way of living
These are examples of "perfecting the brush stroke"
You spend years perfecting little "brush strokes" of your life that never contributed to the big picture.
This is why going back to your roots is important.
Give yourself that chance to see life from the place which you came.
Remember why you started the journey in the first place.
Zoom out.

This week's newsletter is a little shorter because I spent this past week visiting the town I grew up in.
Seeing my parents.
Seeing my siblings.
Seeing some old friends.
Feeling everything I felt that drove me to make the choice I did.
Every time I do:
I re-center my perspective.
I hope you all take the opportunity to do the same.
