A Cozy Holiday Moment - and Hello Again!

Hello Friend,

It’s been a while! I just wanted to let you know I’m writing again. I'll be in touch again in January with some good news, and I’m so glad you’re still here.

In the meantime, here’s a little holiday moment from one of my second-chance books — a short, cozy snippet for the season, as two former lovers meet again, on Christmas Eve, in an old, abandoned house they once dreamt about owning together, as husband and wife.

"Well, two years with Christoff, two Christmases. And I never once got a chance to make Gram's cookies." She looked up at him, her eyes bright. Not upset, but a quiet clarity suffusing her being. "Oh! And talking about Gram's cookies—guess what I made the other day, and brought here tonight?"

He flicked the old joke at her. To tease and delight her. "Rutabaga pie?"

He really wasn't surprised when the tea towel ended up around his neck. He held his palms up in front of his face, shielding himself. "I give up! I give up!"

“What did I bring?"

He grinned, and locked his gaze on hers. Lowered his voice. "Gram's cookies."

I hope that gave you a happy. ;) And if you like, feel free to hit reply and simply say hi, i'm still here! ☺️ I’d love to hear from you.

Wishing you warmth and calm this holiday season,

Susan
