Dear friends,
We'll be "at home to visitors" from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday December 27. If you want to let us know you're coming, please do, or just show up!
Arrive at 6:30 for Shabbat and Hanukkah candle-lighting and dinner (advance notice appreciated so we can be sure we have food that you can eat), or after 7 to just hang out. Kids of all ages are very welcome before 8:30, when Kit goes to bed. Quiet adult chill time continues until 10 or whenever we turf you out.
If you can't make it on the 27th, maybe you can join us on one or more of these upcoming dates:
January 10
January 31
February 21
February 28
~~~
Expect the menu to include lots of fried things, including latkes, of course. I've never made sufganiyot before, but maybe this year is the year.
The boring details:
- Our apartment is up a steep flight of stairs, and has a cat in residence.
- One member of the household has scent allergies, so please don't wear strong perfume or cologne.
- We're more than happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions we can, but cross-contamination of allergens may happen in our kitchen. We never mind you bringing your own food if that's what's safest for you.
- If you'd like to bring someone who hasn't been directly invited, please check in advance.
- We generally welcome Shabbat just before dinner with quick blessings over candles, grape juice, and challah. You're welcome to join us or sit it out, whatever's most comfortable for you. We're happy to explain how it goes and/or say the blessings in English if that helps you feel included.
- Please take a rapid test no more than 12 hours before coming over. At least one member of our family will do likewise. We'll also have a high-quality air purifier running, and windows open if weather permits. If you'd prefer more stringent covid precautions, please let us know.
Address: 1669 President St #2, Brooklyn NY 11213. Call or text me at 646-287-2437 if you get lost.
See you soon!
Cheers,
Ash on behalf of Chris, Josh, Kit, and Alex-the-cat
