SPOTLIGHT
You would think that after a sale of a 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the same Ultraviolet color for $280,500 miles a month ago that our Spotlight car, which sold yesterday on PCARMARKET for $173,250, must either be a rebuilt car or a complete basket-case.
But you frequent readers of this newsletter remember that that particular RS was a Sonderwunsch car with small details that pushed the price higher than average, with the help of television cameras and alcohol of course.
Since then, an 8,500-mile car in Lava sold for $185,000, and a 2,500-mile car in Black sold for $215,226. This car selling for $173,250 is spot on for an 11,000 example with good history, a clean carfax, and an owner who actively addressed bidders during the auction this past week.
Will these get softer? Probably. There's definitely still room for these to depreciate but not by much. That being said I'd say this was well bought as it has some miles on it and can be driven without fear of going over 10k on the odo and well-sold for getting out before prices drop even further.
NOTEWORTHY SALES
- First-generation Cayman S' are quite the bargain these days. This 2007 Cayman S sold for $32,000 yesterday. That's a ton of car for the money.
- With so much love for 964 Turbo 'Package' cars over the last week, one would have thought this 1991 964 Turbo would have sold.
- Be glad you didn't buy a 25 Years of Boxster with hopes of flipping it for a profit. This 2022 example failed to sell with a high bid of $92,000.
NEW LISTINGS
- We haven't seen a 996 GT3 listed for a hot minute. Will be interesting to see what this 2004 Artic Silver car brings.
- This high-mileage 2005 Boxster S with 159,000 miles and a 3.8l engine swap should be quite the deal.
- How much more would you pay for "Sunroof Delete"? We'll find out next week with this delivery mileage 2023 911 GTS.
