Remember this classic clip from Saturday Night Live?

Yes, it’s time for sweater weather!

This coming Wednesday (in only two days!), my sweater class begins. And the sweater we're making this season is the College Avenue sweater. (Click on the link to get the pattern!) I named it for the main street in State College, PA, because it reminded me of going back to school in the fall. (With Penn State being right here, fall is an event!)

Now, you know that I’m a big believer in helping you make any modifications you wish.  This sweater has beautiful cables in the front and back, but if you’re a newer sweater knitter, we can do it without cables. If you want a pullover, we can do that, too. In other words, the project is a basic raglan sweater. Have you found with making other sweaters that you're hard to fit? Then we'll modify your sweater using my book, The Sweater with the Best Fit Ever!

I've made a couple of these sweaters, and plan to make more! It's such a terrific basic.

You can use any yarn that knits at 5 stitches per inch, but I think this pattern would be particularly gorgeous in Malabrigo Rios. (Click on the link to see all the colors I have in stock! Have fun choosing!) Cascade 220 would be another perfect choice. And I just got a new shipment of Ultra Alpaca, which is a yummy blend of wool and alpaca for springiness plus softness. All of these yarns are my go-to for so many knitted things! Live out of town? We can text colors back and forth for anything that isn't on the website.

Want to see these yarn ideas in person? Make an appointment!

The class is on Zoom, so feel free to take it from wherever you are, and in the comfort of your own home! The link to sign up is here.

I can’t wait to see you!
