Hello, everyone!

Happy Monday! Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!

Before we get started on our regular newsletter, let me talk about Local Yarn Store Day, which is this coming Saturday, April 27.

First, the Pacific Coast Tour shawl kits are IN. If you're from out of state, I mailed yours out last week, and you should have it by April 22 or 23, depending on where you live.

If you're local, set up a time to pick yours up. We can do curbside or you can have an appointment just to pick up. Be sure you have the beads if you wanted them. (Most people didn't preorder beads, so you may need to set up a time to choose them.)

As you know from all the notes I've sent about the shop's retreat, I'll be at Lake Raystown on the actual day. Because I'm both gone and by appointment, it's hard to have an "event," so the shop will have treats for you all week, not just one day!

(Note that I'll be around today and Wednesday. Otherwise, my helpers will be leaving at 3:00 until I return from the retreat plus an immediate industry conference in Chicago. I'll be back May 6. And then I'm never traveling again!)

We'll have some prizes for both yarn and fabric people, because really, no one needs to be left out of fun!

If you're a yarn person and spend $25 or more, you can get this keen local yarn store pin (while supplies last). (Well, this is a drawing, not the actual pin. But the pin looks very similar to this! Only smaller! And with more shine!)

If you're a quilter and spend $25 this week, you'll get a surprise fat quarter.

And I usually have chocolate available for special occasions. This week is no exception.

Celebrate with me and without me this week! I truly appreciate that you've supported local for almost 21 years!! It matters A LOT. Even the smallest purchase adds up to help pay rent, utilities—and best of all, to buy new, exciting merchandise!

STITCH (What I've been working on)

I'm continuing to work on my Resolution Shawl. I'm enjoying this project. The idea is that you take 2 or 3 resolutions, and every time you do them, you knit a section using the color assigned to the resolution. I started it before New Year's, and I don't work on it every day. But it's coming along, and getting better and better as I go! I'm loving the colors of Noro Sonata, and I'm hoping to finish the shawl this summer, to be able to enjoy wearing a nice cotton into fall, at the time before it's still a little too warm for wool. We'll see. It's not a race.

And I'm going to the gym more regularly.

YOUR (What you've been working on)

I love it when customers who come in the shop from out of state are impressed by our fabrics. It's such an honor. One of those people that I see every now and then is Barbara Clem. She bought fabrics several years ago to make a quilt. We started with an Australian print, and coordinated from there. And guess what? It won best of show in the Mancuso Greenville show this past weekend!

It's truly stunning. She did all hand appliqué and hand quilting. Thank you for the share, Barbara. This quilt is amazing.

You can see more about it here.

ART (Inspired by art or nature)

I was in Florida for the past couple of weeks, so I'll have a bunch of photos from there, I'm sure. For a start, here's a Great Egret carrying a stick to build a nest.

We have the Clarisse necklace class tomorrow night. Feel free to sign up, and get a quick "Mother's Day" or "I Like My Friend" present made in short order.
