SYAO Creativity, the week of November 13, 2023
Nov 13, 2023 2:31 pm
Hello, everyone!
Happy Monday! Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!
A quick note about holiday hours: I'll close on "Thanksgiving eve" at 2:00 and close all day on Thanksgiving. I'll also close on Christmas and New Year's Days. I'll likely leave early the Saturday before Christmas, depending on what we do. The appointments those days will be marked as unavailable, so you'll know. Otherwise, I'm all in!
STITCH (What I've been working on)
The mystery hat, Winter Glows, is all finished up. I enjoyed making (and now wearing) this one! I love Fair Isle, and I love beads. What more could one ask for in a hat?
YOUR (What you've been working on)
Lizzy had been admiring one of the quilts I had on the wall. I don't have a pattern for it because I just threw it together. So I explained to her what I did (which is extremely easy, by the way), and she made her own version!
Want to know the secret?
Here's what you do: You cut strips that are roughly 2". Then you cut a long triangle from one of them. Then you keep adding strips of any width and angle on each side of the triangle, and on top and bottom of it if you wish. When it's a bit bigger than 6.5", you trim it with a 6.5" ruler. When you trim, you can either cut off the point of the triangle or not. No one will care. You sew the blocks into rows, turning the triangles however your heart desires.
And that's all there is to it!
ART (Inspired by art or nature)
This photo is from New York State, near Watkins Glen. What a stunning drive.
OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)
Kaffe Fassett strips are always a good thing. You could use them to make a scrappy triangle quilt like the one above!
As always, make an appointment to shop or browse, or just to show off your stuff! I can't wait to see you!
