Hello, everyone!

Happy Monday! Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!

STITCH (What I've been working on)

In 2018, I did a block of the month using Cotton and Steel fabrics. This was about 6 months before the same designers became Ruby Star Society.

Anyway, I had cut out a few too many kits of some of the blocks, and I had scraps of their fabrics that I put aside. I decided to start a New York Beauty quilt with these blocks. I work on them every time I teach a New York Beauty class, and not in between. It's slow going, but I'm enjoying my blocks start to come together a bit more. I'm not sure what I'll do with them. But I'll keep going. I'll use them for something or another! I thought you'd enjoy seeing the progress. I'll show you the finished quilt in 10 or 20 years.

YOUR (What you've been working on)

Alice made this wonderful quilt as a gift.

She said that she learned several things from making it:

  1. Use only Aurifil thread. Don't trust that mystery bobbin. Aurifil makes piecing more precise.
  2. Use only Quilter's Dream batting.
  3. Have a bit of contrast from your thread to your fabric, so you can see what you're doing.
  4. Don't give yourself impossible deadlines, so that you have to work from noon until midnight. You will find a huge fold in the back and have to pick out a great deal of the quilt.

Excellent suggestions, Alice!

ART (Inspired by art or nature)

Anne's cousin is a wonderful artist. I love the colors he used in this painting. If you'd like to see more of his work, here's the website. (He should design fabric!)
