SYAO Creativity, the week of June 26, 2023
Jun 28, 2023 3:37 pm
Hello, everyone!
Happy Wednesday! What with coming home from Chicago, I'm running a bit late this week. But no worries: Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!
STITCH (What I've been working on)
So much going on! First of all, Great Lakes Road Trip begins on Saturday. Yay! Valerie and I are so excited to get going. There are just a couple of kits left, if you want to join in, or we can pick colors just for you.
While you wait for Road Trip, I just released a new pattern, called Helix 101. Helix knitting is addictive. It's a way to create stripes without the usual "jog" where you join at the beginning of the row. I hope that I've explained it "really clearly," and that you have fun with it too.
As with all my recent patterns, all money made on Helix 101 is going to my friend Joy, who still needs a hand as she recovers from her bone-marrow transplant. (She's doing well, but continues to need money for rent, health insurance, and groceries as she transitions to working soon! Even if you only quilt, buying the pattern will give her a small donation. They add up.)
I used 4 colors of Rios for the hat, as pictured below. The Rios at the shop is stocked full.
(And in more exciting news, I have on order their new Zodiac line of colors, which releases in the fall! Because I was in Chicago, I'll be one of the first shops in the country to get it! I promise to let you know the second it arrives.)
YOUR (What you've been working on)
Here's Kathy's version of the College Avenue sweater. It's so yummy and warm. She plans to make another!
ART (Inspired by art or nature)
This mural was in a parking garage in Rosemont, Illinois. I was walking back from dinner and noticed it. It's glorious! (Too bad Kathy wasn't standing next to it in her coordinating sweater!)
OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)
I just got in the cutest stitch markers! They're for the Great Lakes Road Trip project (or for any project where you want cute stitch markers!) They depict all the states, plus Ontario, that are in our mystery knitalong this year. You'll never lose your neon markers!
You can buy them in the store or on the website. I'll happily ship them starting tomorrow!
As always, make an appointment to shop or browse, or just to show off your stuff! I can't wait to see you!
