Hello, everyone!

Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a pleasant weekend.

Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!

STITCH (What I've been working on)

I've been planning a new retreat for knitters!

As most of you know, my friend Valerie and I have been designing mystery shawls that kick off on Local Yarn Store Day each year.

This year, in addition to the shawl, we're holding a retreat near the King of Prussia Mall on August 9-11! You say that you haven't been making the shawl? No problem! Come to the retreat anyway! It'll be just as fun for you.

Here's what we're doing:

Friday night, August 9: Kickoff Dinner - 6 p.m.

imageWe’ll begin on Friday night with a feast at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse that has much, much more than steak. You’ll enjoy a beautiful atmosphere, while waiters come to your table and offer a variety of meats, from steak to chicken to fish. Vegetarian? No problem! The salad bar is beyond compare!

Dinner includes a full buffet experience, a dessert of your choice, and your choice of tea, coffee, and sodas. (“Adult beverages” are available but not included.)

Immediately after dinner, we’ll give you a sneak peek of the finished Pacific Coast Tour shawls, and you’ll receive the instructions for the final leg. If you haven't been working on this project, bring your own knitting!

No one will stop you from knitting at the table in this group!

Saturday: Classes and YARN at the Embassy Suites

Your second day begins with a full breakfast if you’re staying at the Embassy Suites, followed by a morning class designed to expand your skills and inspire new techniques. (The project will be a mystery until that morning! Don’t worry: We’ll have a supply list for you beforehand, along with perfectly coordinated kits available should you want to buy yarn…. Because you know you need yarn!)

We’ll break for a delightful lunch that’s Philly themed.

The afternoon class will continue with new skills and ideas as we continue our mystery project!

Following an enriching day of learning, enjoy a group dinner, where you can discuss the day’s activities, share your progress, and maybe even show off your completed Pacific Coast Tour!

You’ll have plenty of time throughout the day to shop the yarn that Cynthia will bring from her store, including her hand-dyed yarn that she’ll design exclusively for this occasion! Warning: Her bright, colorful array may tempt you!

The evening is yours to explore. We recommend hopping over to the King of Prussia mall—with maybe a quick stop at the Container Store, where you can find many, many containers coincidentally suitable for a yarn stash. Or feel free instead to relax in your suite, or to continue knitting in the hotel’s beautiful common areas.

Sunday morning: Relaxation at its Best

Sunday morning offers a serene conclusion to your retreat, with open knitting in the wonderful lobby of the Embassy Suites. Their spacious and beautifully decorated area provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and leisurely knitting session.

Take advantage of this time to finalize your projects, exchange ideas, and bid farewell to new friends. We know you’ll feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and inspired!

Please join us. We know that this is an experience you won’t want to miss!

The retreat cost of $449 includes (1) the Friday night dinner at Fogo de Chao, (2) Saturday’s classes (class supplies not included), Saturday’s (3) lunch and (4) dinner, and (4) Sunday’s open-knitting session with Valerie and Cynthia.

Hotel reservations are to be made and paid for independently. Be sure to mention “Knitting Escapades” to receive our group rate of $164 per night plus fees and taxes. Click this link for details about accommodations. (Note that at this link, the hotel has not changed the wording from “Stitch Your Art Out, Knit a Shaw.” We need to get on them about that again. And teach them about shawls! LOL!)

Please register here. (It’s at stitchyourartout.com under “other creative classes” in case this link doesn’t work on your computer.)

YOUR (What you've been working on)

I love Rhonda's version of my Make a Million shawl!

ART (Inspired by art or nature)

Greenhouses are good for the spirit! This photo was from a place I was at a couple of weeks ago near Lancaster.

OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)

Here's a new tool. These are kinda cool. They're sock-measuring thingies. You stick one in your sock and can see if it's the right size! It works toe-up or top down! Clever!!

As always, make an appointment to shop or browse, or just to show off your stuff! I can't wait to see you!
