Happy Monday! Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!

STITCH (What I've been working on)

I've almost finished up the cowl I've been showing you. I think I'll save the final photo for next week's email. I'm super happy with how it turned out! This has been a fun project.

This coming week I need to sew on the block of the month, plus I have a new idea for a Really Clear project. I'm in the mood for cotton right now, so I'm looking at these four colors of Noro Sonata. The problem with looking good in autumn colors, is that they're not exactly good for spring going into summer. But they'll be perfect for when I get the project finished! I think I'll make that purple my main color. Or maybe that far-left green. If I make it purple, everything will contrast. If I go with the green, it'll be green with more subtle contrast. I'm leaning toward the purple. What do you think?

YOUR (What you've been working on)

Ann took a class at the shop years ago to make these beautiful wool appliqué squares. She's ready to put them together! I consider getting this far being done! She's planning to stitch them together and put them at the bottom of her bed. Her stitching is exquisite.

ART (Inspired by art or nature)

I like this octopus wall sculpture that I recently noticed on a visit to Kelly's, a local restaurant. I think I particularly noticed it because I'd just finished listening to the book Remarkably Bright Creatures, which is in part about an octopus that liked to escape from his tank in an aquarium.

OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)

Of course I have a full range of yarn and fabric for people who have different coloring than I do. Look at the same Noro Sonata yarn that could be used for my project, but in gray and purple. I love being able to help people choose colors that they look good in rather than colors that only I look good in! We all look good in different things and have different preferences.

I'll tell you more about my project if it comes to fruition. When I'm designing, not everything actually works. It's a risky business.
