Happy Sunday!

And happy Pentecost Sunday!

Pentecost Sunday celebrates the Holy Spirit's descent upon the apostles, described in Acts 2:1-4:

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

Regardless of your faith orientation, here are a few thoughts about Pentecost Sunday:

  • It's a day of celebration: It's a time to celebrate the blessing, presence and activity of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
  • It's a day of unity: Despite the myriad of different streams within Christianity, all united by faith in Jesus Christ and belief in the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • It's a day of renewal: Pentecost Sunday is a time to ask the Holy Spirit to renew our hearts and minds and to guide us in our daily lives.

Pentecost is the event that marked the birth of the Christian Church and is often referred to as the "birthday of the Church."

May you enjoy today's Sunday 7, and the Holy Spirit all day long!

Happy birthday, Church!

2 ) 📜 Quote to Ponder

"If we think of the Holy Spirit only as an impersonal power or influence, then our thought will constantly be, how can I get hold of and use the Holy Spirit; but if we think of Him in the biblical way as a divine Person, infinitely wise, infinitely holy, infinitely tender, then our thought will constantly be, 'How can the Holy Spirit get hold of and use me?'" ~ R.A. Torrey

3 ) 🥾 This Week Outside

The Virginia Canyon Trail starts at the Argo Gold Mine and Mill. It is a brand new trail and not listed on our normal AllTrails app.

Chrissy and I did this one evening after work and it ended up being one of the longest hikes we have done in a while.

There are some pretty cool photos of a fake graveyard, closed mine and the trail that you can check out below.

Marriage Pearl # 17: Present a United Front

In parenting, it’s crucial to present a united front to your children and support each other’s decisions.

By discussing changes together, you maintain your child’s respect and avoid being played against each other.

Steve and I made a conscious effort to stay consistent in front of our kids, even if we later discussed and modified our decisions privately.

Our focus was on demonstrating respect in our marriage and setting an example for our children.

This dynamic often highlights how our different thinking styles, with women connecting dots in complex ways and men tending to think more linearly, complement each other and provide a leverage for diverse perspectives.
