Hello friends!
I hope you’re well :)
We’ve hit birthday season at my place. My three kids all have their birthdays in the next six weeks. They’ll be turning nine, six and three. We’ve got some fun things planned and I have to laugh a little at the differences between the birthdays I had as a kid and the kind of celebrations we have for my own children. Times certainly have changed.
Some of the things I did to celebrate birthdays as a kid:
- Had a party at home where we tied our hands behind our backs and tried to eat a donut tied to a washing line, played pin the tail on the donkey, and took home a lolly bag.
- Shared homemade cake with family.
- Went to see a movie at the cinema (if we were lucky :D).
Some of the things we have planned over the next six weeks:
- Glamping on the beach.
- Swimming with dolphins.
- Indoor skydiving.
- Go kart racing.
I’m not saying one set of memories is better than the other, but they certainly are very different experiences! I also think growing up in Australia vs growing up in Dubai account for some of the differences. If we were back at home, we’d probably be having much less exciting (but still fun!) birthday celebrations.
What special things do you do in your family to celebrate birthdays?
As always, here are some free books.

Take care, be happy and safe!
