I loved the world building in this book - it's very rich in detail! The backdrop of the war is so vivid and well done, you really feel the danger they're in. I admit I got a bit lost in the Spanish but that detail adds to the authenticity of the setting. Amazing action and fascinating magic system. Also that romance buildup. 👌

One of the main reasons I enjoyed this book is because the author's writing style is somewhat close to my own (which is a rare find for me!) Fast-paced, easy to read, and thrilling YA. 🥰

I, unfortunately, often suffer from eye fatigue and struggle through long paragraphs of descriptions and exposition that I find in most books. My own writing style has been influenced heavily by me trying to fill that gap with books that are easy to read but still well-told and compelling.
