Do you believe you needed these days to relax?

Do you believe is okay to stop thinking about performing?


I know...It is hard...especially when your team or you are not performing for a while...


So, how can we build a Performance Improvement Plan?


Underperformance is situational

When somebody is underperforming is not related to their skills or competencies. It depends on so many external factors that labeling somebody as an “under-performer” is limiting.


Even the most skilled or experienced person may struggle if they are going through a difficult time in their personal life.


Both as people and managers, we should find a way to decrease the probability of underperforming.


The best way to do it is by implementing a Performance Improvement Plan,

Performance Improvement Plan

When you are creating the first Performance Improvement Plan you should:

  • be clear and specific about the areas that need improvement and the steps to take to achieve the goals
  • set achievable targets and provide the necessary resources and support
  • design a template
  • provide continuous feedback and guidance to stay on track


What should a Performance Improvement Plan include?

A PIP should include information on acceptable performance levels, objectives that are achievable, relevant, and time-bound, guidance on what management will do to assist the employee, details on progress meetings, and consequences for not meeting the objectives of the plan.


Online you can find a lot of templates to use. This process is designed to provide every person with the opportunity to succeed.


REMEMBER: the goal is not to fire anyone but to grow and align on expectations!
